Quick Outsourcing Tip - Don't Hire Someone Without Doing This First!!!!

Simple stuff...

Ask your applicant to repeat the task you want done back to you in their own words. If they don't mention a specific detail you want included, you haven't explained the position well enough to them. This is the easiest and quickest way to fully know if they understand what needs to be done.

With lots of language barriers coming into play with outsourcing, this is a vital step to eliminate a lot of crappy employees. Trust me... it's helped me tons!

    Outsourcing is such a wild animal right now.

    Two people will charge the exact same rate- one gives you the best writing/backlinking/whatever you've ever seen, the other is just HORRIBLE.

        Not every worker is like this. It's the hiring party's responsibility to find the right people.

        It's not only online employees that work like this either. You can't watch everyone all the time... the entire reason I outsource is to eliminate me having to work. If I have to sit and watch someone all the time, that's the same as doing it myself.

    Yea I understand some people automatically hire 2 outsources for every job paying both and just tossing the worst results.

    I understand that Chinese manufacturers only do what's expressly specified, if you simply mention "a power chord" for an industrial piece of equipment, you might get a car cigarette lighter adapter.

      Repeating it back in their own words can help, but better yet: work towards a sample or first task that they do correctly.

      I.E. have them send in their first completed task or step, for instance, to make sure the project is on track.

      In short, it's not about tripping people up, it's about working together. Many hard workers are out there and they aim to please, so help guide them through the first step that works, then go from there.

        I agree and the majority of my regular clients now started by asking me to write one article for them before they sent me larger orders. This is always a good thing and I am now outsourcing some of my backlinking and doing the same thing.

        Always start with a small task to see how good they do and how fast they work before you move on with handing over your entire project.

    great reminder-thanks! reminds of me of high school, where in pyschology class, we had one person start a story or saying something to the person next to them only they could here, and the process was repeated until ten persons did the same-the original story was always buthered to shreds! i have used this in both business and parenting, again, great reminder, tx!     yes leaving stuff out can be disasterous.

    I know this and have learnt the hard way.

    Talk to them as if you are talking to a 5 year old. It is hard, but yet, the more you tell them, the better the results.

    make sure you keep watching them each step of the way too. Then you can stop them if they are doing it all wrong.

      Outsource through a 3 rd party like Odesk etc, its not advisable to do it on your own. Never hire permanet workers full time, they always cheat and do mutiple employers since you can't monitor them. They are gone to funerals, and they disappear for days and 100 other excuses follow.

    Thanks, I also make a small guide for VA. So I do first and see some trouble during works, write it and give it to my VA. It will saves a lot of time.

    This is a great tip! easy and quick. Back to the days when I was offering services,some employers were asking for a great number of samples with topics provided by them. I remember one asking for (10) 150-word and (5) 300-word write ups about certain keywords on bikes and porcelain pots. I was like is this guy serious?

    I am an American living in the Philippines with over 50 full time employees at the moment. It's really not uncommon for VA's from home to try to take multiple full time jobs which is why I have my staff in the office.

    It really is a mixed bag as to what you get. Everyone does speak English, but I have not met a perfect writer yet. The best writers still make at least a mistake or two per paragraph.

    Asking them to repeat back the task exactly is good.

    If I have staff from home, I always follow up with videos too to show them how I want something done. Takes 10 minutes and saves you a LOT of time.

    I had it with outsourcing courses and webinars. The best way you can outsource is use Odesk.com. They monitor everything, billings, problems, tardy work, hassles and keep both sides happy. Without such a monitor you are on your own and the workers sitting half world away will eventually created problems and sabotage your entire projet. Be wise my friend.

    Yea It's REALLY important to test out your outsourcers before giving any bigger project. I got burned out many times by putting faith n new workers and it's too risky. Test 3-5 people before choosing 1 every time.

    Another sure-fire way to make sure that your employees read all your job description instead of moving all around like maniacs pasting their job resume.

    You can just put at the end a sentence that says "We won't accept any job proposals without beginning with the sentence "I am working for a ninja" "

    That would at least let them know that you are a ninja and that will verify that they read the whole job description so that is two birds hit by one stone
