How do you get heaps of traffic from Facebook for free?

Just like twitter, FaceBook fan page. Add people related to your niche site, start by adding friends and getting there friends and also get people related to your niche. When you add content from your main site post a summary of it on the fan page as well. you can also tweet your fanpage once or twice to get some people. Then you have 2 sources of traffic.

Giveaways are a great way to get likes, but they don't have to cost money. I've found that once you get a some 'friends' or 'page likes' to keep your page active with posts, but don't sound like you are spamming them.

You just have to follow people related to niche of your website to get traffic and you can share your website product links to get quick traffic.

I do not use facebook that much. But if you can be creative and create viral stuff, you can do well with facebook.

Once something goes viral, or what we like to call GO NUTS, then you can see some good traffic, and good results.

Just have to be a little crazy, and create i think. Especially with what is going on in the economy, you can use that to your advantage.

Facebook is the most admired social networking site. In addition to keeping in touch with your friends it can be and is very much used for business. You can use it to promote your products and services, to acquire clients and to get traffic to your site. It offers more possibilities. Your profile speaks volumes about you. Give an adequate amount of background information of yours and make the profile public because this way even people, who don't know you, when they encounter your profile, they might become interested in you and become a supporter of yours. Invite friends, social contacts, partners to join as your supporter. Don't be pushy and don't spam because this is not the way to convince people to join your network. Applications like Market Place, widget are very useful.

I wouldn't focus too hard on getting facebook traffic, its more of a byproduct of search engine traffic, affiliate traffic, and email list traffic.

Focus more on producing more and more blog posts and articles for your site, building links, and creating products with high paying affiliate programs. The more free content pages you add to your site, the more keywords you will rank for, and the more search traffic you will get.

In my opinion fan page is very effective way to get more-2 traffic.
On social networking site you should be very-2 creative & presentable.If u have these quality then this can be possible to get lots of traffic for free.For getting traffic from facebook initially...

Create Fan page
Be interactive
Try to do some start-up to the page initially

we made a static html based "like us page" that mentions the promotions/giveaways. However, how do we get our page in front of people in the first place without spamming your friendslist?

Maybe there's something i'm missing here, but what's the vehicle that pushes the fanpage out into fb land in the first place?

I'm new at fb as well but I know some stuff. Hopefully people will list more strategies. One way you can get your page in front of people is by posting on the walls of popular niche related fan pages. It's better to @tag yourself then it is to leave links. Only because fb can put a 15 day block on posting to walls for spamming. You can leave links but only do like 3-5 a day.
