What The Heck Do I Promote To "General" Traffic?

Hey Warriors,

Help me out!

I have a website that recieves a fair amount of traffic, but it's a search engine so it's not really in a niche

I've already got adsense, but I'm hoping to build a list and promote some products. So here's my question:

What can I promote that would cater to "general" traffic? Yno, something for everyone (or most at least).

I thought of promoting competitions or something, but I don't know where to find those.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

What are the keywords that are sending you the most traffic. I would argue that those will tell you what niche your in. What is the age demo of your site? You could probably do extremely well with CPA offers if you can target your audience correctly.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

This is a bit of a difficult one, but I have an idea you may want to consider. I would take your general list and I would promote blogs/websites that are in a more specific niche to them. They may not appeal to everybody, but if you do this you can build more specific lists from your current list and get some sales in the process.

I would build a few blogs/websites in niches like weight loss, electronics, cell phones, etc....and promote all of these to your general list. You can even set up your thank you page to capture them onto more lists than just the general one once they sign up.

If you do this you can promote more specific products to your smaller lists and this can help you to appeal to more people through smaller niche blogs/websites.

I had this problem a while ago.. here's what I did, it might work for you.. it might not.

    Segmented list building.

If you have different sections / categories on your site, run different opt-in forms for each one.

I set up one for tech stuff, one for sport stuff, another for politics etc etc.

Because I was using Wordpress it was easy to display the right form in each category and article page.

Each form offered a different lead magnet.. I didn't take the time to create one myself, just took articles from Ezine (keep in all links and credits).

Each PDF had links to Clickbank products, and the highest converting sections would eventually get a unique 'my website branded' product.

It's a long winded process, but it worked out ok for me.

    Good luck.

Why don't you designate keywords to the traffic you get - I don't think there can be "general" traffic in most cases. Also, the site you're getting traffic towards - what niche does it belong to? Focus on getting targeted traffic rather than monetizing the "general" traffic you're getting.
