Oooh, ClickBank Pricing Loophole

I just had someone buy a WSO and saw an order come in from ClickBank for less than $30.

Yeah. Except this is hot stuff and I charge a wee bit more than that.

So how did this Warrior get a lower price?

Going back through my product setup with the Amember script, and trying to setup a public buy option through ClickBank for a recurring monthly fee, but giving Warriors a one-off option through PayPal, it looks like I've stumbled across a way to use ClickBank to offer variable pricing for a recurring product without getting ClickBank approval and without setting up the product with multiple price points in ClickBank.

This could come in handy for someone wanting to use ClickBank for a recurring product, but to offer different price points for different buyers (such as a WSO).

Here is my ClickBank setup:

1. I have multiple "Standard Products" in my ClickBank account I have setup over the years. Call them products 1 through 4.

A standard product is a pay once product.

2. I also have a "Recurring Billing Product" for the membership product. Call it product #5.

3. Using the Amember script I setup the ClickBank recurring billing properly using product #5 to interface with ClickBank.

4. But in the Amember script when I recently changed the PayPal WSO product offer the script insisted I enter a ClickBank product #, even though I was not intending to use ClickBank as a processor.

So I casually entered product #1 into the Amember field thinking it would be ignored since ClickBank was not being used.

5. Turns out I was wrong. My ancient product #1 in ClickBank was less than $30.

So what happened was Amember sent the buyer off to ClickBank instead of PayPal for the purchase.

ClickBank then applied the pricing for product #1.

Then when ClickBank transferred control back to the Amember script, Amember properly registered the membership information for access to my product - even though it is really ClickBank product #5.

End result - buyer gets product #5 for price set for product #1.


Now, with this knowledge I could intentionally setup a product in ClickBank, call it product #6, and offer to the public for $47. But using the Amember script I could enter the product reference as #1 and create a special WSO link to sell the product for a different price.

I know in ClickBank you can "duplicate" a standard product to try and get different price points.

But ClickBank says once a recurring product is approved no different pricing is possible without going through hoops and an approval process.

Now I've seen where it is possible to not only change the price for a recurring product, but to have multiple price points and to do this on the fly - so long as I already have other previously approved products with price points I want to use.
