I strongly recommend this bookthis book .

Sorry, it's not an e-book, but I don't recommend those. I really recommend avoiding most online information and dealing only with the newest editions of standard textbooks published by mainstream, orthodox publishers.

There's a very specific, very compelling reason for this being likely to be beneficial.

Such textbooks have an enormous investment made in them by the publishers, before they're even printed. For this reason, they're obliged to be commissioned only from widely recognised, highly accredited, well qualified experts who are known and trusted, and their output is also peer-reviewed at every stage of its production.

Online information, by comparison, just isn't subject to any realistic, meaningful "quality control" at all and can be devastatingly unreliable. A lot of it is just incentivised opinion from people selling things. Call me a skepchick, but over the last three years I've gradually and increasingly been realising that the generally prevalent views of SEO expressed online, especially by its practitioners (who always have a direct or indirect financial interest in whatever they're alleging) is little better than a collection of "urban myths of internet marketing".

Bear in mind that in a field of endeavour in which, out of all those "trying it", comparatively few people become truly successful, the "general consensus of opinion" is always likely to be fairly deeply flawed and erroneous.

Reading a few "established textbooks" really does open up a whole different world.

I haven't come across an ebook about keyword pyramid, but your question might give a an expert in this area to create one.

But based on my understanding, a keyword pyramid structured website has a homepage that acts like a giant sitemap, pointing to pages that target second level/tier keywords. Then these second level pages would act as sitemaps to pages that target third level keywords (long tail) -- forming a pyramid.

In terms of SEO, the keyword pyramid structured site should be optimized first for the third level (long tail) keywords where there is more targeted traffic and lesser competition. Then boost the second level pages (keywords) and finally the homepage which targets your main keyword. The theory is that if you are ranking well for keyphrases in Level 2 and 3, you will have a much easier time ranking your main keyphrase.

    Here are some excellent resources:

Actually no need to be a dummy. "Search Engine Optimization For Dummies" suggests the silo system for internal linking structures and there's plenty of info about silo structure on the Web for free.

Here's just one example of good info about siloing from Bruce Clay:

BTW, "Search Engine Optimization For Dummies" also refers to Bruce Clay.

Kurt, would you say then the silo system is similar to keyword pyramid? I am familiar with silo but the keyword pyramid is new to my ears. Thanks to this thread.
