Just curious if the .cc domains are valuable or essentially throw aways?

It all depends on what you mean by "worth anything". If you're creating a Website where it's absolutely essential that your visitors remember the name and need to type it into their browser, I think a .com name is essential. If your traffic is coming from search engines or PPC, I think other suffixes are fine, particularly if you've got a search engine friendly domain name. My 2¢. Charlie |

Unless it's a three-letter one-word generic, like say cat.cc then no, it almost certainly is not ever worth the reg fee. "Spastic" (eg. unprounceable/numbers+letters/etc.) three-letter .coms are currently going for a few-hundred dollars on average, and one has to assume that if you had the exact same thing as a .cc it might be worth a small fraction of 1% of whatever the .com went for. Unfortunately there's no point holding onto it either, since .cc is not a TLD to which people tend to migrate if the .com, .net. .org, TLDs aren't available. Frank |
