I need advice, How can I increase my blog subscribers?

Hello! I am moderatly experienced in IM but have not made it to the point of making good money yet.

I have a site www.theholisticmama.com and my plan was to build a site with a lot of worthwhile info and create a following. Then add in some affilliate marketing to make money.

My subscribership is low so I am wondering if you may have any insight to help me increase it. I comment on other blogs and submitted the site to some blog network sites.

Do you think I need to have a free offer for an ebook or something?

Thanks in advance!

Use the following method with your own twists and turns to get more subscribers for your blog:

    1) Make a YouTube video with 10 tips to live a better Holistic life.

    2) At the end of the video, tell people they can get more tips and info by subscribing to your blog.

    3) Last but not least, include a link to your blog in the video's description.

If you don't know how to make your own video, you can outsource this work to someone on Fiverr.

Try to let your blog be known. You can do this by promoting it through blog commenting, using article directories, social bookmarking, etc.

Roxanne... When you say your 'subscribership' is low do you mean the number of RSS subscribers, or visitors to your blog according to your stats program?

I write press releases that generate clicks, leads and sales. Great reviews!

I meant that I don't have a lot of people subcribing to my rss feed...

thanks everyone for the advice...I am going to put some of these suggestions into action. I started writing an ebook to giveaway but I also need to increase traffic so maybe some articles, forum comments, and possibly a video.

On my main blog I've got 16 subscribers to my RSS feed and anywhere from 80-150 actual visitors a day to the blog. I'd say only a handful of people reach my site through the RSS feed.

In other words, the RSS feed number isn't as relevant as what your stats are saying. I mean it's nice to have it high, but remember that subscribers don't always equal readers.

A better metric is to see how many repeat visitors you have. And great content is what keeps people coming back.

I have approx 18% returning visitors, not sure if that is good?

Yes, a great way to increase the number of subscribers to your blog is to offer subscribers something extra such as a free gift or additional information that could be helpful to them.

      Some other ways may be...

      -Make subscription process simple

      -Use Email Signatures

      - Simply asking them to subscribe!

Well I guess giving away some free bies will be best, or ask some companies to provide you stuff for running contests.

that can help a lot, then you can ask contestents to join your list.

Creative content and frequent updates are sure to bring the existing readers back more often, and a polished edgy look to the blog can draw people and keep them there even if they accidentally stumble on your page.

Find 5-10 main competitors in your niche, create your own selling preposition and replicate what they have done.

There is no need to invent the wheel, just look what other successful websites in your niche are doing.

Practical advice: syndicate your content via ping.fm accounts, create videos and syndicate those as well.

Definitely do some guest blogging... That way, you can boost traffic, build links, and show everyone how much of an expert you are. I would also suggest giving away some kind of free report to help boost your expertise - but it does you no good if you don't have enough traffic in the first place.

I agree, focus on traffic and if you have good quality content updated regularly (to keep them comming back) you will have a winner.
