What do you consider to be the MOST IMPORTANT INFO in IM'ing

I was sitting here at home watching South Park and kinda day dreaming. And, I started to wonder what most people would consider to be:

"The Most Important Information to Know In Internet Marketing"

So, I just wanted to throw this thread out and see what people think.

Maybe it can help a few people open up to suggestions that they would never have considered looking into. You may just help that one person become unstuck in their IM venture.

You must have discipline - its a must for every part of any business. if you have discipline, you will have good time management, good focus, and you will DO all those things you need to do to be successful.

In my experience training people to make money (online and offline) discipline is the one skill i find most difficult to teach. people either have it, or they dont. If they dont have it yet, it seems people need to hit some sort of a bottom and wake up to the reality that they need to be more disciplined.

In my honest opinion, this is the single skill holding most people back from their dreams.

Credit scores help in Internet Marketing? Hmmmm,,,,, anyone?

I've found that people are very enthusiastic right up until they discover there is some actual hard work and dedication involved. Then their interest dries up overnight. Which is actually kind of amusing, as I know from the few business courses I took as an undergrad (electives) that most offline businesses fail, and those that do succeed typically take 2 years before they're out of the red ink and into the black. Yet many seem to not realize that IM is still business, and online or offline it takes dedication, discipline, motivation, and perseverance. And more often than not, it also takes time.

Yet many seem to think IM is some kind of magical land where its all faerie dust, instant riches, no commitment, no hassles, and no work.

In my former line of work (addictions treatment) I said the exact same thing about addicts: they need to find and hit their own personal bottom before they can wake up and really see their current reality for what it is, and have the motivation required to change that reality.

The most important attribute: the willingness to actually DO it and an unshakable belief that you will succeed at it. That success may not be (and very likely won't be) overnight, or in 30 days or even 3 months.

In fact, going in with the kind of mindset based on succeeding on such a time-line is its own recipe for failure: you can't put a short-term time limit on something you're just starting off at, that is pure stupidity IMHO as setbacks are unpredictable and common, and you really have no idea of what you're getting into until you're actually into it and doing it. And that's where perseverance and self-confidence separate the wheat from the chaff.

Next to that is understanding your strengths and weaknesses and molding your business plan so that it takes maximum advantage of your strengths while allowing you a way to work through, or around, your weaknesses. The sooner that takes place, the closer you move to becoming successful.

I'm a newbie in internet marketing and from what I have experienced so far, it seems that one of the most important thing to have is the desire or the willingness to learn.

With the available products for IM, seems that there is actually no push button and earn, every product needs some sort of understanding and learning before you can make it work for you.

If one would be willing to learn then, then applying what you have learn and not to mention the earning part would come in naturally.

    Just my two cents. :-)

In my observation, most of my students who make it in IM are those who willing to put in MASSIVE action & consistent.

    Testing and Conversion Tracking.

I work with a lot of newbies, and almost none of them test and track even after listening to my webinars or podcasts on the topic.

They confuse tracking traffic with tracking conversions.

stop reading emails. Find a good program with a lot of training in it. You do not need to make money at your first go, but learn and learn and the jigsaw will start revealing some pictures pretty soon.
