Amazon Associates: Are we allowed to use customer images?

I've been scouring the terms of service, google, etc and I can't find any answer at all to whether or not associates can use customer-uploaded images on their websites; the ones shown along with the manufacturer-supplied images which I know we can use. The only Google results I can find are a few threads here asking the same question, but with no answer.

I'd be really happy if anyone had a concrete answer!

I believe I read you may not use anything that is not specifically mentioned in the TOS so I probably would not use it,but why not just send Amazon Associate support an email and ask them, they will give you the most accurate answer.

I heard from someone on the forum that you can use customer images. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.

Not a really concrete answer, but I've used them for years without any problems. I must've asked customer service a half dozen questions and each time you do you have to enter your url, so I assume that they checkout the site.

I also use wordpress along with plugins that pull products from Amazon that uses their images in their feed for the product. Both free and paid plugins use the feeds and thousands (probably tens of thousands) of affiliates use these plugins and I haven't heard of any problems with the images.

I could've sworn I read on Amazon that you could use the images on the Amazon website, but not the merchant's images on THEIR website without permission. I wish I had bookmarked the page.

On another note the customer reviews have to be in a inline frame (I think) if you use them. Several plugins made the changes back when Amazon changed their operating agreement.

Almost forgot to mention I've always used the image to link to the exact page on Amazon, and not for a different link or different merchant product. In other words the product that the image was intended for, not a competing merchants product.

Amazon in their FAQ has instructions on how to use their images. Also if you pick a product and "link to this page" at the top one of the options provided by Amazon is "Image only".
