Good opt-out message at start of email?

I know people talk about having an opt out message at the very beginning of an email to reduce spam complaints.

Whats message do you use at the start of your emails?

If you are confident of the quality of your product, an opt out message should be at the bottom. You need to give them a chance to read what you have to offer so they can make an informed decision about whether they are happy with your content or not.

Here is what I just sent my list today. sometimes I do a variant others use ip address and email they subed with a message they can unsub.

    "Hi everyone,
First things first you are a valued confirmed subscriber. Thank you!"

I don't usually do the unsub thing it is at the bottom of the email but I just mention they confirmed their email and thank them.

I don't get a lot of folks wanting to leave

I would never put an opt out message at the beginning of an email. Why "suggest" to people that they leave your list before they've had a chance to read your message? Most auto-responders automatically put it at the end of all your messages. I just leave it there.

At the top of the e-mail, I use an unsubscribe message based
    on the following template:

You are receiving this e-mail because you joined my list at mydomain.com using your e-mail address of subscriber@example.com on 08/14/2011 from the I.P address of 12.162.68.138. If you'd prefer not to receive anymore e-mails - no problem - you can unsubscribe easily by clicking here.

The specificity of the domain they subscribed at, together
with their e-mail address, subscription date and I.P. address
helps to jog some people's memories and reassures them that
they can unsubscribe at any time.

If they don't want to be on my list, then I want to make it
as easy as possible for people to unsubscribe so there's an
unsubscribe link at the top and bottom of most messages.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

    Shaun
