Is there a way to duplicate a blog after you have set it up so that you have the exact settings, plugins etc\

Is it a plugin? or otherwise

Yes there are. Two that I can remember of the top of my head are WP-DB-Backup and WP Twin. (WP-DB-Backup is free and available in the Wordpress plugin database. WP Twin I'm sure is a paid plugin).

I also think there are some that you can purchase here in the WSO section as well as some guides on how to use them.

    Well Kind of......

    Regardless of tools /plugins etc.
manually you can copy all your site file sand "export" your database via PHPmyadmin.

The result is your entire blog content and structure.

To restore/move elsewhere simply install a fresh WordPress install (fantastico/simple scripts). That will create your Mysql database for you.
Then copy up your site files to your new site and use PHPMyAdmin to "dump" the current database tables and "import" your backup database.

See Youtube for dozens of videos showing this process in detail

There is a plugin called backupbuddy which is amazing.

You can make a full backup of your wordpress blog (incl. database) and download the archive.

The you can deploy (clone) the site easily to a new, empty domain. All you need to do is make a database on the new server/domain..then enter the database info when you import..and backupbuddy will make a copy on the new domain in less than a minute.

Of course, its also great for backups...but also great if you want to quickly deploy a site (site template) to many new domains.

For example, you can have one "source" (template) site with the design you like and all the plugins/settings etc....then you deploy to many other domains ..all you need is add content to the new sites later, you can make many wordpress sites very quickly.

I second the recommendation of backup buddy.

I've researched many ways to clone blogs, and had the best results with backup buddy.

The task of blog cloning depends on server settings, and some tools just fail on too many servers.

Backupbuddy, besides having great features, analyzes your server and gives you detailled feedback what settings might need to be changed to make everything work.

I used wp-twin, and I must say it's a great little plugin. The only thing I do not like about it is that once the blog has been cloned the username of the original blog will be used on the new clone, not too much of an issue. Never tried backup buddy but there are great reviews about it

Just make duplicate copy of your wordpress CMS, then upload it to other host.
