One vs. Multiple Affiliate Marketing Sites

From your experience, what has worked better? Owning 1 site with multiple topics and affiliate links embedded (i.e. comparison charts) or multiple sites with 1 topic each? Of course the more sites the slower the PR and backlinks will increase, at least so it seems...

I've always done one affiliate site per niche.

It would be pretty difficult for list-building purposes and traffic-targeting to "share niches" within one site? The main purpose of my affiliate sites is to build lists, so I tend to decide everything according to that. But I can't really see the point (and can readily see some downside) in having different sites for different products within the same niche?

If you are starting out, I would try to cast a wide net. Some of the sites/methods you make/use will be stinkers and some will do great. Even veterans can't always tell which sites will be in which category.

Are you talking 1 or 2 page sites, or sites with lots of content?

If your going to be adding content on a regular basis, all your going to have time for is 1 or 2 sites.
