    Hi cpalounger!

Signatures are very important. The key is to contribute or add value with every post so that you and your signatures have credibility. Too often, I see spammy posts with signatures...That's like putting lipstick on a pig!

Signatures can be very valuable here if you offer services...

...unless you forget to update your offer when it is over. =P

I do. But whatever I put in my sig is unique and I tend to be the only one on the forum with that type of product.

I also change it up quite a bit, try different banners, run short-time specials, even 1-hour specials ...

So I treat it like any other marketing.

      .

I say no, only because I'm frequently envious of some of the rather creative, attention-getting banners people have come up with for their sig lines so, no, don't do them. It's just one more for me to wish I'd thought up first. (I really need to just bite the bullet and try one of those...)

lol ... good answer. I don't know how well it converts as I don't track it, but I do look at everybody else's.

      Test it

Some use images and do very well, while others use images and don't do so well. The same is true of using just text links. If your offer is killer, and what your image/text LEADS to effectively conveys that, it can definitely be worth the money.

Signatures are very valuable but only if your posts are really good. A good post will create a desire for other warriors to know more about you and the projects in which you are involved. The signature links will naturally attract their attention. So use them and make this forum more valuable with your useful contributions.

The signature box is a great way to do a little bit of advertising.

If you have something you want to share with others, then this is a valuable piece of virtual real estate.

Signatures can give you a lot of exposure but if your posts are crap and your signature leads to crap no one is going to want to click on them.

I didn't even have a signature for my first 2.5 years here so I don't think it's imperative.

Since you are not using tracking links, how do you know those sales and traffic are coming from your signature? Basically... you don't. With your low post count I'd bet it probably has more to do with the SEO of your WSO than your sig. Just a guess.

I can still tell where my visitors come from with out tracking links.
If you have the proper methods in place and the right server side or third party
software installed tracking where visitors come from isn't hard.

By the way, What is a Signature and how do you add an Image?

Warrior Forum is a Forum with High Page Rank. Also the signature is DoFollow (That's an advantage over some other popular websites such as DigitalPoint Forum. They changed it to NoFollow recently and a lot of people left their forum. They even lost some of their Page Rank as far as I could notice.) Then it is definitely good to have a signature with the right Anchor text and at the same time it is important to have contribution to the forum. Post: information that add value. Don't post: Good post! Thanks! etc,

Signatures on this forum can be very lucrative...or they can be a total joke. It all depends on how you use them. As others have mentioned, if your signature is junk - it's worhless.

Post useful comments, not "me too," "great post," and similar drivel.

If you have a "How to make $1,000,000 a day on autopilot" signature, you'd better be making a million a day! Asking "How can I get my first ten bucks?" with a sig like that will get you laughed right out of here.

Look around at some of the more successful and well-known warriors here and pay attention to what they do and say. Look at how they craft their signatures and what types of posts they make.

    I hope this helps.

I haven't added a sig yet, because I'm working on creating or finding what I can feel good about promoting. Integrity is important to me, so I don't want to just throw up any old offer. Besides, the folks here ARE marketers, they know what is a good offer and what is trash. I think Alexa Smith once said in one of her posts that warriors are THE hardest folks to market to, because we are naturally suspicious (paraphrasing of course).

Signatures are important, as others have pointed out, for serps and community clicks. In terms of community, this is one of the best, and i've gotten a LOT of clicks, which always feels good. I'm on quite a few forums too, and believe me when I tell you, warriorforum is a different animal all together, if you ever strive to be apart of any forum, when it comes to marketing, and related, this one is it.

    Signatures rock!

As does spending the $60 or so for a graphics.

The fact is, folks are *visual* when online...and text keeps blending in when you're scanning.

Graphics make you stop and take notice.

    Hope that helps!

I use mine to build my list. In return I offer people a great guide on SEO.
So yea, I think everyone should definitely use a signature if they can, just as long as it provides great value, and its your own product.

Hopefully, having the sig below each post that a Warrior makes will make the poster think about what they are posting a little more before they click the red button.

In that respect it is like a sleeping moderator.

What I mean is, if people come across as rude, ill-educated or aggressive in their posts, then they will not get many clicks on sigs. If, on the other hand, they always try and add value to a conversation, offer help and advice and genuinely contribute to the forum, then the poster's reputation will grow and people will be more inclined to check out their stuff.

I'm sure you've got your answer by now - signatures are essential -
      provided you provide quality posts.

If you do, and if your signature promises something that appeals to
the reader, they are very likely to click on your link, especially if you
have a graphic (sure helps your signature stand out), but you can get
clicks even without a graphic (though you may have to work a bit
      harder for that).

I highly recommend creating an offer (an appealing gift could help you
get started with building a list!) and creating a compelling signature
for it. Then provide value in the discussions, and you'll be on your
      way!
