Hi, I'm a little discouraged...but maybe someone has good advice.
Didn't want to really post much until I actually DID something...so now I am.

I started the site -- compound miter saws review dot com (no spaces)-- as a review site 6 months ago.

1.5 months in, I got sandboxed...ranks from page 1,2 and 3 to page 10-40.
Almost gave up...but then it came back 2 months after that.
------------------------------

After about 6 months and 300 unique searches/month got 1-2 amazon clicks per day but only purchase was unrealated tv show download from amazon.

I've decided my reviewed products were something people mostly trust from local store.

Added several more posts on closely related topics about the same product.

Brought unique searches to 500/month from 300...projecting 600 by this month.

Decided to try adsense using CTR theme. It's been a few weeks now and made 60 cents.

I'm dam surprized I could even make a site that gets visitors...but I'm really discouraged or confused how to actually make more than pennies.

Any suggestions? I'm pretty much open to anything and appreciative.
thanks

We need to know a few more things before we can really give any accurate advice:

    1) Did you do any keyword research on the site? What's your competing PR like? (If you're not sure, download SEOQuake for Firefox and check.)
    2) Are you adding at least 1 1000 word post every day that is fully-SEO'd with minimum 2.5% keyword density?
    3) Are you backlinking?

Start with those questions and then I'll come back with more answers.

      1) Did you do any keyword research on the site?

Yes, every page is based on a keyphrase and also placed in AllinoneSeo plugin, tags, etc.
My initial root keyword is in the url and every page has it's own keywordphrase plus the root.

      What's your competing PR like?

      My page rank is 0

      2) Are you adding at least 1 1000 word post every day that is fully-SEO'd with minimum 2.5% keyword density?

More like 350-500 word post once a week. (unclear as to what is too often)
It appears there is at least or close to 2.5% density most of the time.

      each article keyword phrase in:
      title
      description
      keywords
      tags
      ------
at least one internal link to another related post on each post.

      3) Are you backlinking?
currently no. For the first month or two, used onlywire for social bookmarks. have one ezine article linking, one squidoo lens. A handfull of directly related forum links.
(I'm now paranoid of getting sandboxed again. it's somehow paralizing me from beginning a link strategy like a link wheel or article spinner etc.)

OK #1 - Forget about the sandbox. It's a myth. You experienced a Google Shuffle because your sites don't have anywhere near the SEO they need.

Keyword research = looking through the Google Keyword Tool or Market Samurai, seeing how many searches your keywords have, the competition, and the AdSense potential. Have you done this?

You're adding too little content, and you're doing it in posts. Posts are worthless for SEO if you want to make money. You need to SILO your site using categories and pages. Google knows the difference in a post and a page, and it inherently trusts pages more because they're static. Posts are fluid and variable.

Get rid of All-In-One SEO and add Yoast's WordPress SEO. AIO is not bad, but Yoast kills everything else on the market. It's free, just search for "Yoast SEO" in the plugins screen. It'll tell you the article's keyword density. Get it up to 2.5% minimum. For the next 30 days, add 1x1000 word page each day in a SILO fashion. After that, you can back off to 1 post every 2-4 weeks, or use Jorgen Jensen's Content Puller to automate the posting of YouTube Videos and articles. I recommend his plugin versus things like WP Robot for two reasons: 1) it's cheaper and 2) you pick the articles to be posted instead of waiting to see what shows up. Very innovative concept, and at $5/mo you can't beat the price.

Start backlinking. 5-10 backlinks a day in forums and other blogs with high quality, thought out snippets (100-150 words). Work a keyword-rich link into it. Try and find at least 1 .edu or .gov backlink you can get each day as well. Treat those like gold.

Does this help a little more?

    Hi mate,

    I would......

    1. Start a backlink campaign and research where your competitors are getting backlinks from. Find HIGH pr sites and work towards getting some links there. Keep it relevant.

    2. Look at your target keywords and research EXACT match searches and target the keywords that suggest someone is looking to buy, NOT get more info. EG buy miter saw, miter saw best prices etc

    3. make sure your articles and reviews sound like they are written by a person NOT a robot, research the amazon reviews for ideas to put in your reviews.

    4. make sure your adsense and product links are in the right place. Learn about positioning.

    5. Collect visitor details and follow up with new bargains and advice.

    6. Pay someone to do just about all that for me.

    7. NEVER give UP, Try Integrating a facebook page and twitter account, try asking for people to leave their reviews and comments on products.

    8. TEST TEST TEST, you will find that winning combination.

I hope that makes a tiny bit of sense.

Congratulations, Dude you are light years ahead of most IMers.

I don't know how much traffic that you are driving to your sites,
but all of those eyeballs belong to real flesh and blood people. Usually, there is only few reasons why those people don't buy.

1: They are not Targeted correctly.(People didn't find what they wanted)

2: Not using buying & product model-name Keywords(People didn't find what they wanted)

3: Your are not getting many Click-Throughs to merchant site.(People didn't find what they wanted)

4: Your Click-Throughs & Minimum or No Sales.(People didn't find what they wanted)

5: They don't Trust You or The Website.(People didn't find what they wanted)

Sounds to me like you have a leaky water hose.

Each of you websites is just like a water hose. Traffic is the water that flows through your hose. But somewhere along the line there are some breaks that needs to be fixed. Puts some more tracking on one your sites.

Follow your traffic flow, you might be surprised where your traffic is coming from.
The people that are landing on your sites might not be the actual people that you wanted

If the traffic is good, then check how long they remaining on your pages. Track to seen where they hanging out at.

If you find that people jump on your site and then a minute later jump off rather quickly, then there's another leak. There might be some trust issues there. See if they are just clicking some of your outbound links, instead of your affiliate links. Just like plumber you have to stop all the leaks.

If everything is good and you are sure that your traffic is doing what you want them to do, and your getting great Click-Throughs to the Merchant and they're still not buying, then your traffic is the in the wrong phase.

    There are 3 Basic Phases:
    1: Desire
    2: Research
    3: Buy

If you don't grab traffic in Phase #3, then you are just getting a lot Tire-Kickers.
This means that you might be Targeting the wrong products or wrong Keywords, and you have not Niched it down enough.

If you want to make consistant money on the, YES I am going to say it. "You must know what your market wants FIRST".

Take a break from IM. Have some fun. Maybe do something else. But, if this what you really want do. Then join a Mastermind group of people who are successfully doing what you want to do.

You've come so far already. Success is just around the corner.

        Ok here some questions..

        1. If I should have pages instead of posts...should i leave the posts as is and starting with pages. Or can i delete the posts, and replace them with identical pages with the same url. or will that confuse the search engines?

        2. I've built every page based on a google keyword tool and many have hundreds of searches, but I've been able to get on page one or two for some of them according to market samuri. I haven't checked for adsense potential and will have to learn that.

        3. Checking my stats, I get a lot of searches with longtail keywords that I didn't target and they don't show up with google keyword tool, but the visitors are looking for the same thing. Is this called LSI?

4.This is what my stats are for about the last two weeks.
I'm guessing this is pretty bad?

        525 Visits

        2.47 Pages/Visit

        70.29% Bounce Rate

        00:02:20 Avg. Time on Site

        85.33% % New Visits

        10.29% Direct Traffic

        4.19% Referring Sites

        85.52% Search Engines

        338 google search queries

        5. I'm just starting to track adsense by url channel. Is there anything I should really focus on with anylitics?

Something to note with changing from All In One to Yoast. You'll need a plugin to transfer all the work you've done with All in one to Yoast. It's called seo database transfer i think, but it doesn't transfer seo keywords..just meta title and meta description.

If you can drive targeted traffic you have figured out just one part of the puzzle.

Now you have to learn how to convert them. Here's what you should be doing...

The main page of your site, that's your home page should be a squeeze page with no links within. Yes, just focus on getting leads and then focus on selling them.

Once you have build a list you can now schedule a series of emails and sell them your products or services and direct your visitors to your blog or do whatever.

Now the most important part is a sales funnel and your product line. Focus on having atleast 10 products in your autoresponder with sales pitches and quality content and this will keep making you money on autopilot. Your income will depend upon the number of leads you have in your funnel, relationship you build with them, no. of products in your funnel and what kind of offers you have setup...
