Case studies on effective signup box placement and ad placement

Hey, Warriors, I'm trying to find some good case studies on effective web design, such as where to place which content on websites.

For instance, where is the best place to put ads? Where is the best place to put a signup box? I know everyone has opinions, but what I've been searching for are actual case studies, with some statistics.

Here's an article on a great case study - I'm looking for more like this! It does have some good, very specific tips - such as the finding that people tend to scan the first couple words of a headline to decide if they want to read on:

Eyes top left - what web authors learn from Eyetrack III

I'd like to put together a list of links, which I will post on my website - I think it will be quite helpful.

That kind of info is best found on your own. What works for some sites may not work for others. One this though you increase your ads ctr by placing them above the fold and on the right hand side of the page. You can check flippa for adsense site that have sold or listed with high revenue claims and see how they set their site up. Chances are warriors will not out their sites.

I agree that Warriors wouldn't reveal their successful sites - I wouldn't! That's one of the reasons I'm looking for some scientific studies - studies that include things like heat maps, split testing, etc. I know that results will vary depending on what type of site you use, but I do think there are some universal truths - for instance, studies that I have found indicate that people scan a page from the top left down, for instance.
