Want to know when it is ideal to include a link to a resource somebody ask and not a link to another post on the warriorforum.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong ...

I think as long as you don't own it or have any financial interest in it (such as an affiliate-link) and it's genuinely offered altruistically to provide information, it's generally not a problem?

If enough people think it is, in any individual case, and several people "report" it, it might disappear, but even then I don't think it's exactly a hanging offense (as long as it's not an affiliate-link or something you own, obviously - that would be "spammish") ...

I haven't seen it lately, but at one time it was allowed to provide an affiliate link to a resource, under the following etiquette...

      > Most important, the offer had to be "genuinely offered altruistically to provide information" as you said, Alexa.

      > It had to be identified as an affiliate link.

      > You had to also offer the non-affiliate link.

The theory at the time was that people had the choice of rewarding the referrer by using their affiliate link, or bypassing it.

I don't know if that's still the case, or if the "locker room lawyers" spoiled things.

        John,
the "locker room lawyers" spoiled things.
        Yup.

The only place on this site I can think of offhand where an affiliate link is allowed is in a classified ad.
