Backlinks...getting done

OK, so I got my new site up and running and started to do some backlinking to it. What should I do as step 2? Where would you go from here?

get more backlinks. Use autoblogging to give it a quick 'boost'. Fill it with relevant unique useful content. Count the money.

You could pay someone to post your site at the bookmarking sites.

Look for backlinks at this forum.

    Hope This Helps!!

Ps. You could turn your homepage into an RSS feed and then ping it at a place like pingler.com (92 sites)

Turn your page into a RSS feed at Feedity - Create Free RSS Feed - create an rss, find rss feeds, make rss feed.

You could place a article at isnare.com and get at least a couple hundred backlinks.

There are a ton of things, but here's a couple:

Keep adding quality content. Do you have anything you can give away free on the site. It all helps.

Sign up for Google Analytics and a) see where your traffic is coming from b) experiment with different headlines and see the effect they have on the bounce rate.

With the social bookmarking sites...can you just bookmark your sites and then never use them again? (just for the link) Or do you usually use all of these sites? Do I have to add a bunch of bookmarks and friends?

Steps 2, 3, 4, etc should all be about building backlinks. Everything you do to build backlinks will only serve to improve your SEO, and also your traffic.

And of course, the more traffic you have, the more optins, sales, Adsense revenue, etc. you'll have as well.

Every day you should be doing one or more of the following:

        1. Blog comments
        2. Forum comments
        3. Writing articles and submitting them to the article directories
        4. Seeking link partners

I've also used a service called Syndicate Kahuna which allows me to write an article or blog post in the niche of my choosing, and I can use any anchor text I want. Syndicate Kahuna will then "spin" my articles into tens, even over a hundred different versions and submit them to their network of over 4000 niche specific blogs.

I've used a combination of all of the above to rank certain pages of some of my websites in the top 10 in Google for several competitive keywords, sometimes in as quickly as a week.

I've even managed to go from a PR of 0 for a brand new site I opened in the beginning of December (2007), and now it is a PR 2.

It's hard work, but if you can devote as little as an hour or two per day to doing link-building, you WILL succeed.
