Im not sure about software, but you could try mailchimp. It's free and it works fairly good.

I use Mailchimp and have used YMLP in the past. Neither are software but online versions. Work very well while you are bootstrapping your business.

Be careful about using software if youhave shared hosting. Big no-no if you plan on building and mailing a big list.

Why not check out Imnica mail. It offers a free account for up to 1000 subscribers and the prices are competitive thereafter.

Direct Response is also free up to around 500 subscribers, then you pay monthly.

It always surprises me to see recommendations for Mailchimp here. I thought that very few people here used it, after so many Warriors have reported losing their lists there.

This thread, and this thread, and this thread seem to give very different impressions from the ones above.

Also, if you do any affiliate marketing (or any of the many other things they don't like), even if you don't do it/them at Mailchimp, you can still lose your account and your list(s) there, as explained here.

If you'll excuse the observation, I'd actually strongly suggest avoiding a "free" autoresponder altogether, for all the reasons explained here.

"SendBlaster" is a free "limited" program, you can send up to 100 emails per day. It's full version cost is descent! around $100 for lifetime. Just some of the features that I thought were great are below.

    -WYSIWYG HTML Editor
-Import existing .htm or .eml files
-Analyze Results (Open Rates, Clicks.. ECT..) Integrate with analytics
    -Embedded image support

    -Add unsubscribe link
    -SET CHARSET (different world languages)
-Add file attachment to mailing lists
-Import contacts from Outlook and Thunderbird
-Import email addresses from Excel, Access and .CSV files
    -Bounced mails processing
    -Unlimited lists/group with unlimited recipients
    -SMTP and POP3 profiles
    -SMTP free delivery
    -Scheduled mailing
    -Set speed of sending
    -Spam score check

I use Sendblaster - not the free version, I paid for the whole version. I have a mailing list of over 15,000 addresses and it would cost me a fortune to use something like Aweber.

It works really well and the big list sends in a couple of hours. However, I do use an SMTP relay service and I recommend you do the same if you have a large list or send a lot of messages.

I wouldn't use it for an autoresponder series because it's not all that automated, but it works very well for monthly (or bimonthly) newsletters.

I'd say if you're looking to market emails, start of manually, this reduces the learning curve and doesn't send your email straight to spam. Once you have saved up some money, buy a decent software because the free of cost ones are known to steal your lists...

      This is dreadfully bad advice.

What it actually does is postpone the learning curve, not "reduce" it - and it also leaves you with a list of "subscribers" that you can't import into any respectable, reliable autoresponder without them opting in all over again. :p

It send email from my shard hosting that is hostgator. Hostgator only
can send 500 email in 1 hr. So i have to send email 1 a hr. I have a cron job
