Wealth Crockpot Versus Wealth Microwave

Do any of y'all listen to Dave Ramsey?

I love him - especially for an Internet Marketer because without any set paycheck, it's important for us to develop financial FREEDOM.

Yesterday he blurted out a quote:

"Wealth is created in a crock pot - it isn't made in a microwave."

I think many newbies (oh hell even some seasoned marketers) don't like to believe this. Is it POSSIBLE to see some profits using microwave wealth tactics?

Of course.

But we should all be building crock pot wealth - building up long-term sustainable businesses, not flash in the plan, "latest tactic" strategies that we have to worry won't be there when we wake up.

Personally, I adhere to the following belief:

Internet marketing newbies should be of SERVICE first. Work for other, already successful marketers. Not ONLY because it helps you make faster money of a significant amount (ie: $1,000 for an eBook project pre-paid NOW versus $1.75 on Amazon that won't get paid for 2 months) but being a service provider allows you to learn from other marketers. Watch what they're ordering - what TYPES of content? Read and learn from their specs! Where do they want backlinks built? Etc... it's the BEST form of spying!

Internet marketing newbies should THEN move on the PRODUCT CREATION. This is so that they will have something out there earning residual income - where they get all of the funds from it. Most newbies feel too intimidated by this. They shouldn't.

Internet marketing newbies should LAST move on to AFFILIATE MARKETING. And this, to me, should be done via true recommendations. Natural enthusiasm. Sharing what you use, or love with others. Not just "make a quick buck because the rent's due next week" marketing.

Was watching this video yesterday() and what this bankrupt guy to network with a millionaire by offering his services for free but you are saying get paid $1000 for your product creation services

Tiffany if i am really honest . I am scared . I have created 4 or 5 products but i am still a bit nervous . People pm me and appreciate the quality products but i can't explain my irrational fear . So i can relate even though I am not a newbie. Got to do more to get over this fear

On this one , I am not sure i would agree because i got started doing IM from affiliate marketing . I guess if i made sales from ebooks it wouldn't matter . But i kind of understand . You make more being the product owner and recruiting affiliates than being an affiliate out of so many earning income with the product creator

As always tiff , I appreciate your input .

Thanks for helping me out the other time

    Cheers

Great post, Tiffany! I love the quote.

Interesting that you suggest product creation BEFORE Affiliate marketing. Any particular reason you suggest doing things in that order?

      Hey Femi!

No need to understand why you're nervous - just do it afraid and keep going. On the affiliate marketing, a little of that gets worked in right during your product creation - like your first eBook can have affiliate links in it.

      Hey Melanie!

Well there are different kinds of affiliate marketing. Info products and tangibles. So if someone comes to me and wonders if they should start marketing with an Amazon site, I say no.

I advise them to become an authority in their niche w/their own info products and then whatever they recommend will probably convert better than a cold marketing site with no part of "you" in the mix.

You can start affiliate marketing things right in your own info product, though - even if it's tangible. Like an exercise eBook you sell about building muscle through rowing and then hyperlink to Amazon rowers.

But to solely rely on affiliate stuff before becoming an authority in a niche isn't MY personal recommendation. Not saying it can't be done. Just not my advice.

I love the crock pot idea. So many shiny objects out there promising instant wealth. From my experience there is no such thing.

    Tiffany,

As usual, you have started another great thought provoking thread! This 3 step formula you provide is a great example of

    Be, Do, Have

Be--be of service to others to understand fully how to do what you want to out of life. Like being an apprentince first.

Do--do the work of creating your own products and business after you have gleaned from other successful people.

Have--have the career, reputation and profitable business you always desired so when you recommend products/services to others, they will take note because you have the reputation and the background to support your claims.

Only the house that's built on a firm, stable foundation can last. And, it takes time and experience to build a firm foundation.

Thanks for the wonderful Dave Ramsey quote. Use him in my offline life coaching/hypnotherapy business as a reference for clients alot.

Hi Tiff, I like your idea of being of service first, but not everyone can do it that way I am already successful, but I am also looking to be more successful, so I always keep an open mind when people give advice. "Can this help me? Should I try this?"

reading this makes a lot of sense

and a while ago I considered going this route for a bit just to see what I could learn. I'm a good writer. I know how to write content and how to build backlinks. It would be pretty cool to work for someone who is making millions and see exactly what they are doing and how they are doing it.

.... And then I remembered my real life situation. which is that I am homeschooling my son and while sometimes I have lots of time to work, more often I can only eke out 20 minutes here - 40 minutes there. My son comes first. Always.

I would never take on a client and promise to have something done in x amount of days or hours. I just can't guarantee that it could get done.

I like your advice, and I think it's great, but the reason I am writing this is for anyone in my situation - I wouldn't want them to think that because they don't dare take on a client they can't succeed in Internet marketing.

Personally, I think anyone who can write should get your PLR ATM book and go that route. Buy some PLR packs, see what they should look like, and just get to writing.

Great thread and Ideas, I like and admire Dave Ramsey but never had heard that term used before. Initially when I ready your title I thought you were soliciting feedback for names for an ebook or WSO and I guess I am glad thats not the case

    Excellent post and advice.

    Hey Lisa!

Funny, I started out ghostwriting as a homeschooling Mom too! You just give yourself AMPLE time to complete. Like maybe you can do 20 pages a day - but you give the client an estimate of just 3 pages a day.

Glad you found what worked for you!

      Hi Tiff,

I love Dave Ramsey and love his quote

"Wealth is created in a crock pot - it isn't made in a microwave."
which is so true. I know when we started out online we had no idea what we were doing and jumped around from one thing to another, getting lured in by the next best thing.

I have always written part-time for magazines etc and had already tried to go full-time before the rise of the internet but it never worked out.

Almost five years ago now I decided due to numerous reasons to give it another go and I have not looked back since.

I have built my ghostwriting services and reputation up very slowly and am now dabbling in product creation and some affiliate/residual income streams.

In my opnion there is no "quick" way, if you want to be around for a long time. It just takes honest hard-work and a belief in yourself.

Great thread Tiff and I hope some newbies will take what you and the other contributors had written on board.

Tiffany! Great post and very sound advice for new people. I'd like to add one thing that's important that could also be mentioned.

    Between:
Internet marketing newbies should be of SERVICE first.
    &
Internet marketing newbies should THEN move on the PRODUCT CREATION.

    Should in my opinion be:
Set up a real business entity and create your brand.

    Hi Tiffany,

This is a great post and I love the quote.

I am just now getting into product creation in a big way after stuffing about for the
longest time. Wish I had gotten my act together a lot sooner than this.
