One Website about EVERYTHING

I have noticed that a lot of my websites are getting traffic from random things.. sometimes high competition words that I am not even targeting..

this could be from images, etc, etc

but it made me wonder.. is it worth it to make a HUGE site about EVERYTHING or a TON of small sites about each individual topic??

The first is certainly more cost efficient..

A site with a single topic will be better if you want to target a certain niche.

"Better" - in terms of faster efficient ranking for that term yes... but lets say you target a low comp keyword with a minisite that solely focuses on that keyword

you might recieve a modest visitor or two per day..

      However..

With a huge site - you will see 5, 10, 40 people per day just off of the leftovers from the broad search results..

^^In comparison\/\/ the above statement would likely provoke some thoughts for you Jtimes.. however it is typically accepted to be the way you believe it to be

I would keep the site on target naturally.. (not wiki status) however.. rather than choosing something like "shiny diamond wedding jewelry" the jewelry niche as a whole might would be a better idea following my theory

There are Pros and Cons with everything we do, with regards to your idea of making a single website about everything. The Pros is that you can present more niches in a single site and people who visits your site will have the options to select and choose the item, ideas and concepts that they are looking for in a single site. And also, they could follow and log-in to your site and has everything they are looking for in your site.
The Cons is that, you have to study and learn more things and ideas at the same time since there are more products and concepts all together in your site. This will make difficulties especially with the idea of information overload since you have to keep yourself updated with more niches at the same time.
You may want to focus on a single niche and used that to make more sites with the same niches.

I hear you on several parts throughout your reply..

Mainly the pros. It becomes almost StumbleUpon at that point doesn't it , which is excellent EXTREMELY HIGH QUALITY traffic that just browses through all sorts of products and promotions

Also, in your cons you are forgetting about the beauty of automation.. Sometimes a mass of information is only the push of a button away, or a line of code, or a simple script
