Default Money saving tip for 2009

By accident I found an excellent way to save money in 2009 especially if you don't pay too close of attention to all your expenses.

If you use a credit card for personal or business purchases, get a new one, and cancel the old one. You may be surprised at the "leaches" attached to your card that have been sucking off of it for years. I found several things I was paying for that I didn't remember or had thought were canceled. When the funds get cut off they tend to scream. Many of them were no longer needed, some of course I will just give the new CC information.

It raises these expenses to the forefront and lets you evaluate if they are really needed. I've decided that I could do without many things that I have just been letting sit there sucking cash.

Action is the foundational key to all success. - Pablo Picasso

Or quit using credit cards altogether.

I can do most everything I need with a debt card.

I am currently using debit card but I feel lazy going to the bank every now and then to deposit funds cause I don't really put so much money on it just in case it gets hacked. Might switch back to CC.

Recently I got a new CC and I canceled the old one.

I realised that I have saved quite alot too.

Perhaps we can make this a yearly habit. lol

I completely agree. The other day, I found our that my amex card intends to charge me a US$150 membership fees this year unless I remember to call them just before renewal. To my horror, another VISA card provider intends to charge a US$300 renewal fee this year.

The credit card industry is in dire trouble and they will be coming up with all sorts of schemes to leech existing cardholders.

That is just mind boggling, to have fee's like that, for the "privilege" of using their CC and end up paying them outrageous interest. Just amazing. Can you say.. bend over?
