Repeated copyright violations by same site

A major file sharing site keeps repeatedly making one of my works available. Each time I issue a C&D notice it is remove, only to reappear again.

Via webmasters tools I have now asked Google to de-index the whole site. I feel that this is unlikely to succeed (understatement of mammoth proportions there)

However, I also feel that my request would have added weight if others made the same request.

If your work appears repeatedly on the same file sharing network, then let's all make a request to Google for the entire site to be de-indexed. Numbers add weight and might make Google take notice.

I'm not going to name the site, it almost doesn't matter. If your work appears repeatedly on a file sharing site - ask google to de-index the whole site. Maybe with repeated requests we can get some of those sites removed.

Edit: It is my believe that those sites knowingly and repeatedly publish material that is in violation of copyright. In my view that doesn't mean that publishing a link telling us how to issue a C&D notice absolves them of their responsibility.

If Kindsvater or another internet lawyer reads this, I'd be interested in their opinion.

Often the hosting company will be the most responsive to such complaints, although if they are certain off shore servers or run in someone's closet you are out of luck.

Be sure you have something like google alerts to immediately notify when these copies pop-up, might have to setup monitoring for ms-spellings too.

This is clearly an excellent idea.

Many thanks for posting it, Carol.

Google will often delist sites from the reports it gets. I had a huge site delisted that had all copyrighted material on it, including mine. Have you sent a DMCA to their host? You can find that out at who-hosts.com. If it's an offshore host, it's ofen futile, but a US host will give them 48 hrs to remove your content and coming from their host, they would be less likely to put it back.

How do you report to google? Don't they always ignore you like they do on youtube?
