Can The Size Of A .mp3 Be Reduced?

Hello Warriors,

I'm requesting some assistance...

I have a .mp3 audio file that is 109mb in size and I want to know is
there any way to reduce that file size to a much, much, smaller size
without losing any audio quality.

I'd like to market my audio file but not everyone is on broadband and
109mb may be way too time consuming for some to download.

Any assistance would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Robert

Without losing in quality there isn't much of a chance. You could try losing in quality just a bit to see how much worse it gets and how much smaller the file gets.
Or I would suggest you dividing it into smaller parts (topic 1, 2, etc) . I wouldn't wait for 109 mb to download just for nothing.

You can reduce an MP3's size basically as much as you want, but the more you reduce it, the more the sound quality will suffer. However, if it's spoken word, you can usually reduce it a pretty good bit before the audio quality becomes noticeably worse.

Here's a great little tool to do just that --> winLAME home page

Experiment with different bit-rates until you get a good compromise between file size and sound quality. Also, if the original recording is stereo, changing it to mono will cut the file size in half.

There is a free program called audacity. Its a open source audio editor (does more formats than just MP3).
All Mp3 are saved in a certain bit rate, usually a number followed by kbs or kb per sec
A lot of music MP3 experts want a very high kbs for a good quality reproduction of the music and go for something like 256kbs or 320kbs.
For the normal person with normal ears, you'll be hard pressed to tell any difference if you lower it with audacity to 96kbs, maybe even 64kbs but that ay sound mechanised.
Download Audacity and have play around.

Hi! Reducing it will affect audio quality.

Anyway, try Jay Jennings' MP3Tweak at
    MP3 Tweak

I use Audacity for audio recordings as a way to shrink the file size ...it's fantastic. Personally, I cannot tell the difference in quality from the original.
