Is A RSS Button A Way To Build A Email List or Not Really Used For This ?

My confusion is -- can one use this rss tool to build an email list that one can go back to market to this list as you would do when you build a list that you offer a free report then you market to that list later to sell a product or service ?

So would i be spamming to this rss subscriber list if i start sending them emails like a newsletter weekly or monthly ?

Or is a rss only to get people to subscribe to my rss to help them keep updated of new content being added to my blog and that is it, can not be used for any other purpose?

So how do i really benefit if I cannot market to list of email subscribers adding themselves to my rss

  • An RSS Button is just to get them to subscribe to your feed from a website, blog, etc. You wouldn't actually have their contact info because subscribing to a feed doesn't require any information from the subscriber.

You could try to get to them to give you their email and such on your website or blog that your RSS feed comes from. On your site or blog, at the end you could put "Visit our site at www.blahblahblah.com to sign-up for our FREE monthly newsletter" or whatever. Try to get something in there that will make them want to visit your site where you can then collect their email info, or maybe use a squeeze page when they come to the site that asks them for their email right away? If you manage to get people to sign-up by giving you their email, I wouldn't try to sell them anything right away or you might lose some of them. Wait a little while, give them some good FREE information first. Then, you can try to get them to buy after they know that you give them FREE useful info in their emails.

The goal is to give people as many choices as possible. While email has certain advantages, many more technical people prefer RSS and the reason is, they are in control. They don't have to be worried about being spammed or having their email address sold, etc.

This isn't about either/or, it's really about giving your readers BOTH options and you more options to reach your readers.
