I'm curious how often other peoples business turn out to be failures. So whats your successes vs. failures record?

I wouldn't call them failures as such. Anything can be a winner if you spend enough time working on it. If you do not focus, chances are whatever you are doing is going to fail so put that though out of your mind and dig into it as if your life depended on it. You will be amazed at how well you will do with a little extra effort. Just tell yourself that failure is not an option.

Oh boy I lost count a long time ago.

Bottom line is that I learned from those failures, some of which were very expensive. It happens, and I considered it part of my juicing into the industry. I will say that these days I see the pitfalls ahead of time--which means my failures are farther and fewer between.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

I too have lost count a long time ago... I will tell you that I have had more "failures" than successes, but like BloggingPro said above you can learn something from all "failures", which is why I put it in quotes. Nothing is really a failure if you learn from it and can improve upon it the next go around. Sometimes things don't work out as planned, but it just gets you one step closer to what you really want.

I wouldn't say alot of my ideas were failures, just not successful. They just didn't work out for whatever reason. Plus a few of my ideas that were not successful DID make money. Sometimes it's low ROI or you marketed to a certain segment that no longer needs your service due to a new technology or you live in California, ie, Amazon affiliate.

Sometimes the market changes and you either adapt or get left behind, especially on the inertweb.

"Failure" is the wrong mindset. However, I don't think you intend that question as it sounds. How many ideas do I test out only to determine that they are not actually as profitable as I once thought? At least 80-90%.

I agree with the posters above. But I can tell you in the beginning, I built 8 websites in 8 years...all of them tanked for one reason or another. (I agree "failed" is the wrong word and wrong thinking) 80%-90% is about right...even now. The last one took off like gang busters and still is doing well. Looking back, I should have done things differently on some, and some would have worked if I put just a little more effort into them.

    But to quote AC/DC...

I've heard a quote that went something like this: If you want to succeed, fail fast.

I'm not afraid of the word "fail". It's just another stepping stone that gets me closer to success. One thing I can say, I've had more failures than successes, but without my failures I'd have no success at all.

I wouldnt call them failures since they always helped me learn something new.

I think the SEO business which I started which is now a success was the 15th or 20th idea that I had.

So yes it did take a little bit of time.
