Paypal fraud email, watch out!

Hello, I was going through some of my emails this morning and I found this one...

As you can see, its not the best but I am sure a lot of people could potentially fall for it... So I was just giving the heads up!

The link below is the site that it led to, it appears to have already been marked for forgery but if you want to check it out the link is there!

DO NOT GIVE YOUR PAYPAL DETAILS!
Online Payment, Merchant Account - PayPal

Thanks.

Yes, although this attempt wasn't really that great, but the title did draw you in!

Anyone worried about the link, don't worry because I think the website has been blocked!

      Thanks for the info IsayHey.

I get these scam emails on a regular basis. Just to let you and everybody else know, in a genuine email from PayPal they will always address you by your name, never 'Dear Customer'. If you see that salutation you know it's a scam.

      All the best,

      Alex

It will also have the secure symbol next to each email! This one didn't so it gave it away, I use hotmail mostly, and it comes up with a green shield with a tick in it!

I got a phishing scam for PayPal just the other day with both my 1st and last name. So while PayPal says it's a good way to tell an email is from them the scammers are figuring out how to integrate it into their emails. Probably due to all that social sharing garbage that sites like FaceBook and Google think makes the world a better place.

Here's the post I wrote about it the other day

        Just an FYI,

Mine is set up under a business name that I actually haven't used anywhere online. Eons ago I was going to sell on Ebay so I changed it to a Business Account so if anything came under my actual name that would tip me off. Everything from there comes under the Business name.

Thanks for this heads up Isayhey, scammers are doing everything to extract money from legitimate people who are trying to work a decent earning here. A friend of mine was a "victim" of this scam, as he lost some amount in his PayPal, and that made him decides to leave PayPal and moved to Amazon.
We should all be vigilant about these scams since we might fall into their trap, and there is no way that we can trace these scammers from where they are.
Really big thanks for the heads up.

I always find it interesting even when using only 4 or 5 very short sentences, scammers cannot get the grammar right. :-)

You could develop this habit: NEVER click on links to sensitive sites, even if you believe it's genuine.

Simply open a new tab/window and log in. If it's genuine, you will most likely have a notification in your account.

I usually hover my mouse over the link and the browser will show the URL. They always do not point to paypal.com. That's the giveaway.

      Good point about the hovering.

And thanx for the email-warning. There are still a lot of people around who get scammed by these mongrels.

Key: If in the greeting your name or account name is not specifically addressed, ie Hello Joe or Hello Gatsby1, this is definitely a phishing scam. You should always report to paypal by forwarding to spoof@paypal.com and then delete it.
