Still Not Sure Where I am At...maybe you can help

Hi everyone,

So I have had one of my IM websites up for about a year now, with measurable traffic/stats since about December of last year.

My first goal for this site still remains to get at least "one sale per day". This is the goal I have been reaching for and what will really help me take things to the next level.

Well...I am doing okay, but having trouble identifying the problem areas or what needs to be done. This is an affiliate based website, so I send traffic on to a vendor and hope for the sale. Lets look at the averages over the nine month period:

-Percentage of Unique Visitors who exit the site through an affiliate link: 30.78%
-Average number of exit links clicked to generate an order: 47.80
-Percentage of Exiters who Purchase: 2.24%

Keep in mind that all exit links are generally directly to a specific product page that the punter searched for. The exit links are not just general banners or anything, they are specific and targeted per product.

So what is going on here? Are my conversion rates good? Switching vendors in this niche is not an option so I have to work with what I can control and that is my website.

A couple of my thoughts:

"You are doing fine, the key to generating that magic "sale per day" is to simply increase your traffic. This is all a numbers game"

OR

"You are fighting an uphill battle, your numbers show there are some fundamental problems"

Any help appreciated!
