Why, when i write a decent blog comment, do they disappear?

I have written a few good replies on the socialtimes website to some good articles.
When I posted them they showed up straight away. However, the next day they were gone. The same has happened on other sites.
I always fill in the information box correctly and only ever put my website in the designated box and don't put in links, so I am not sure why they vanish.
It just makes me think it's not worth doing, I took time to read the article and them commented on it in a far better way than some of the other comments?
Am I missing something here or is it really hit and miss?

Best wishes

Chris

The admin of the site has to approve such comments.

Don't stop your commenting, keep going but realize that a real person has to approve your

comments. Eventually most of your comments (if they don't look like spamm) should be

    approved.

      Ah, ok.
I guess it threw me because they seemed to be accepted straight away.
How long does it normally take to appear, a week... or longer?

      Many thanks

I've noticed since I use anchor text in my comments, a lot more links have been sticking...

Blah, blah, blah , and "your keyword"...

Not breaking news I know, but its info that may help some...

I can't tell you how long it takes to approve, as I said before a site admin

        controls that.

Think of it like this, If every comment was accepted then the site would

        be full of spamm, right?

yep, that sounds about right. I even get spam flying through my contact form on my website so I can imagine blogs get hammered with spam.

          Cheers

    Hello Splimwad.

What I do is comment decently anywhere I am allowed to put my website, but I really do not see the need to check back. However, I check my backlinks from time to time.

    Blog commenting is an artform.

I wrote a post back yesterday on this.

you can click this link here to have a look => http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...s-artform.html

Just remember that traffic coming from blog commenting is very high quality so dont abuse it. Sometimes you can get more traffic asking the admin if you can do a guest post.

    Good luck.

      Update...
I always copy the links I post to so I can check them periodically.
I have just checked 10 .edu links and 10 .gov links that I posted good comments, not just the 1 line of text as some folk had put, but a few paragraphs.
The text was about the blog and I didn't use anchor text, only the website where it was allowed.
None of the posts are there. Some of these I posted over a month ago?
I am baffled about why little nonsense replies get accepted and mine dont?
I am thinking of giving up blog commenting. It took up a load of my time and for zero result.
      It's very annoying.
Do you think it's because my IP address is in the UK?
Any advice would be very welcome

      Best

yeah the admin must approve your comment. However, there are some auto approve blogs out there that will approve you immediately.

try to comments on those blogs related to your niche first...edu and .gov you may give it a miss first for a start since you have problems now...

The comments need to be approved first so it may take some time before you'll see your comment there. I usually keep an excel file of the sites I visit and leave a comment to that way I can keep track of them easily.

Yes, approval is a must on most blogs.

I own quite a lot of niche sites, and with it, I am bombarded with comments. This is down to all of the softwares created to mass comment spam. Literally all of my websites get bombarded with comments. I have managed to lower the amount of comments with certain plugins, but, I generally mass delete comments on most of my sites at least a couple of times a month.

I just do not have the time to go through each comment, so unfortunately, valid comments, tend to get deleted too from time to time. This could also be a reason for your comment not seeing the light of day when you take the time to write it.

Well, in a lot of cases blogs get spammed with trashy comments and sometimes relevant ones get under crossfire.
