How To Get A Targeted E-Mail List?

I am trying to find the best method for obtaining a huge e-mail list of a targeted category (boat owners, boat enthusiasts, fishing fans, etc.). Besides creating a landing page and requiring the visitor to input their e-mail address.

Is there a better way to do this for this specific niche or is it possible to purchase a list?

    I certainly wouldnt purchase a list as you dont know where they cam from or how they got on the list, or if half are still alive for that matter.

    Create an irresitable offer and build an appealing landing page, use banner ads on fishing, and boat owners blogs, sit back and count the targeted buyers

      Ok I think I will just have to do it as first planned. I will work on a solid offer and landing page, advertise and market, and watch it go from there. Thanks

      I wouldnt advise you to purchase a list, instead spend that money on your own model to make a list.

      Build your own list, by making a squeeze page and driving targetted traffic to it.

      As a freebie offer a free report which can give them an incentive for joining your list, - eg 10 tips on fishing, or 101 tips if you can.

      You can also contact other marketers in them niches and contact them for deals.

    Thanks for the tips. I have already created a game plan with a set offer. I am working on the landing page, mailing list setup now. I will let you know when it is ready and see how it goes from there.

      Getting buyers on a list rather than freebie-seekers is a good way to make your list extremely targeted. This is because a list of buyers is naturally more responsive than those who have not bought anything from you. So a good way is to offer your product not for free but for a very low price. This is a low barrier to entry, but it is still a cost, so someone willing to pay to start a relationship with you is worth much more than a non-buyer.
