Writing articles, forum comments, what else?

Ok I've been a big article writer and it always worked very well for me but since the panda update, it seems to be harder to get traffic this way. Now besides writing in forums, what else do you do to drive traffic, get your site ranked better in the SE and sales?

Just wanting to know what are others up to :p.

If you like writing, how about focusing more on guest posts on established blogs? That'll give you both exposure (traffic) and solid backlinks.

Hi David, this depends on how you're using article marketing and article directories.

It's been very noticeable indeed here, over the last few months, that Warriors doing article directory marketing are finding exactly what you're finding: that it's harder for them to get traffic that way. Those using a different kind of article marketing have all found that the Panda update has helped us, and increased our traffic (partly by making our own sites, and other relevant non-directory sites to which our articles are syndicated, easier to rank).

There are other ways of using article drectories (i.e. for their original purpose, rather than trying to depend on them for their own traffic and their own backlinks), which are the beneficiary of Google's algorithm change.

An article directory is a depository of content freely available for syndication by people searching for content (webmasters and ezine compilers in the appropriate niche).

It's a way of propagating your work (via people who use the article directory to find publishable content) to attract targeted traffic to your site.

It isn't there for authors to use it for its own backlinks (those backlinks are non-context-relevant, PR-0 backlinks of negligible value) or its own potential-customer traffic.

When a potential customer finds one of our articles by putting one of its keywords into a search engine, the last thing article marketers want them finding is a directory copy. We want potential customer traffic coming to our own sites, not going to an article directory.

Those are not the people we're submitting our articles there to attract.

"I have a 25% click through rate from this article directory" is just another way of saying "I lose 75% of my traffic at this article directory".

It's a mistake to try to use an article directory as a traffic-source in its own right, anyway: they just don't rank well enough for that, as even their owners are openly admitting. Of course, contrary to the impression given in some forum discussions of article marketing (typically they're actually only about article directory marketing) that was never what they were there for, in the first place.

I strongly recommend a long, leisurely read through this very recent thread, in which people are discussing why they still use EZA even after Google's recent algorithm change has devalued article directories so much. There's a lot of food for thought there that may be directly relevant to you.

My traffic comes through writing for syndication, and from having my articles syndicated. "Post-Panda" this business-building method has become even better and even more worthwhile.

I also make thoughtful, value-adding forum comments showing my sig-file in forums relevant to my niches, and thoughtful, value-adding comments on blogs relevant to my niches.

It's all I need to attract plenty of targeted traffic and some very high search-engine rankings for my sites, too.

And all the more so, after the Panda update, now that the article directories have been swept off Google's front page SERP's.

I recommend you buy a comprehensive Traffic Course - there is a lot of great information here in the WF, but you will also get tons of advice from maybe less than qualified sources. You will just end up getting more confused then ever and trying hit and miss approaches - been there...done that

Search in this forum for a great Traffic WSO or maybe buy something like Marlon Sanders Traffic Dashboard.

    Good luck!

I use a combination of youtube video blog, and articles on my blog.

A lot of times I film a video or a certain article, post the article with the video embedded, then put a link on the video description on youtube going to the article.

After the video has been uploaded to youtube, I pull it over to break.com and redux.com.

      David,

I would buy the WSO in your signature where you show people, step by step, how to make a $100,000 a year.

That way you won't need these answers.

If you are looking to establish some CRAZY traffic, here's what I would recommend!

P.S. My traffic increased 564.1% in 6 days using these techniques and I began generating 3-4 leads/day within a week..

    1. Facebook Groups: Join many different, similar-niche groups and post updates linking new content whenever it's created. (Only post to 3-4 groups per half hour to avoid Facebook's "bad list.")
    2. Tweet: Tweet 3-4 times per day with a shortened URL to your new content. (Once ever 2 hours to not appear a spammer...)
    3. Forum Marketing: Answer 2-3 questions per day on a forum that is similar to your niche. This brands YOU as a leader and with a nice signature box linking back to your site, this can generate some nice, interested traffic! (If you are into online entrepreneurship like myself, WarriorForum is a great place to answer questions and receive some nice traffic!)
    4. Youtube Video: Post a short video promoting your new content to Youtube. (Seeing as Youtube is the most visited video site on the web, this can create mass traffic!)
    5. Tribe Syndication: Have your content syndicated thousands of times through a tribe and your content will easily get to the front page of Google--Which is a MASS traffic generator in itself. (I personally have my content syndicated to more than 700 different sites EVERY day using Tribepro. And it's only 10 bucks!)
    6. Article Marketing Robot: This tool will submit your new content to more than 300 different article directories! (This will boost your traffic ridiculously..)
    7. Facebook PPC: Although this can be costly, it can enable some INSANE traffic and good, quality leads! (I have a friend that is making crazy money doing it..)
    8. Blog Commenting: Comment on like-minded user's blogs. Simply put! lol.
    9. Tags in posts: Seemless as they may be, put relevant tags in ALL your posts. Search engines LOVE this!
    10. Google Keyword Tool: This will help you name your post something that will be searched thousands of times a month! (I have reached the 3rd position on Google's front page with this! Just Google: "The Perpetual Traffic Formula" and see for yourself! Living proof! lol.)

If you use these tricks for every new piece of content you create, your blog's traffic will increase EXPONENTIALLY.

Like I said, I use almost every single one of these techniques and in doing so, my blog's traffic increased 564.1% my first week..

    HOPE THAT HELPS!

      LOL

dont get me wrong, I personally don't make 100K yearly but I do have 2 friends who are well over those amounts and one just a tad under. It obviously took them a few years to generate those incomes and lets just say I started a few months ago.:p

I'm following the same blueprint but I'm just trying look for new online venture and see if there's something new I can apply.

There's always something new in the IM world u know.:p
