Default Quick Question Concerning Article Writing....

When you're dead broke, and I mean "paypal balance = $0", where do you find immediate (and I do mean, I write for you on 1/9/09 and get paid today) writing jobs?

I see the Warriors for Hire section, but guess what, I can't make an ad there yet because of the payment stipulation.

I could do a WSO, but again, there's that payment stipulation.

How do you find work around here when you are limited to those options? Of course you could scour for people posting "I need articles" but I've seen that only twice. Am I missing something? Or is article writing not in demand?

Only positive (not demeaning) responses please...

I'm about to launch my writing services site, and I need your testimonials!
I'm offering up to 20 Warriors 1 free article of 500 words in exchange for their review.
If you're interested, simply pm me the details and I'll get started. Thank you Warriors!

I believe BST threads at Digital Point do not require a fee, so you can try posting a thread there. Be warned, you might not get a lot of interest if you're a new member of their site.

Article writing is highly in demand both at DP and here. I suggest you first get testimonials for your services or provide a few good samples, then GET $20 and post a WSO.

Article writing or Ghost writers are in great demand. How much would you charge for a 500-600 words SEO copyrighted articles?

You should check out Associated Content - associatedcontent.com

They pay up to $5-$7 for each quality unique article.

I checked Associated Content, and I didn't see anything about $5-$7 per article.

Any other suggestions? I can write, and I need to generate some cash today!

I second associated content. It will take them a few days to review it and there is no guarantee you will even get an offer or not. It depends on what you write about and how your writing is.

You can go to elance and place 3 bids for free.

That's my only suggestions to make cash with no investment.

Maybe it was just my personal experience, but with Associated Content, it literally took them a week to send me an offer for my articles.

I guess it's possible that has changed and they are accepting and making offers for your work quicker, but that was how it worked for me.

Not to be demeaning at all, but it is rare to build a business when you are broke into a sustainable income as quickly as you seem to need. Many of us started part-time while working at a job. I think you need to concentrate on getting even a menial job to pay the bills while you build your business. With your talents, you can be successful, but it takes time to get established.

I would remove the free article offer from your signature, because why would someone pay you when they can get it for free?

You can't do a WSO until you have 30 posts as well as the fee.

Often you will find people looking for writers it takes time to look through pages, but don't go back months and then expect them to be still wanting writers.

You need to have some samples you can show people, preferably through your site. You need to know how much you are charging for an article and how many you are prepared to write.

Say your goal is $400 you could write 100 article @$4 or you could write 50 @$8 or you could write 20 @$20. See the difference and why it is important to know what your goals are before you start.

As with any other business, a writing business will take time and a lot of effort to develop.

It IS possible to get there, however, and for an American you won't have to pay out any money to get there.

1) As mentioned above, write articles for Associated Content. I wish I had been able to do this when I was starting out!
2) If you cannot afford to get your own domain and hosting, start with a free site like a Blogger blog. Just get it up there!
3) Make quality posts on the Warrior Forum with your new site in your signature file to get your name seen and get it noticed.
4) Keep a look out for people wanting writers. Apply to anybody you see. Don't expect a great success with this – it is very competitive – but there is nothing to lose by trying
5) When you have made some money, either from AC, from people responding to your blog, or from Warriors you have applied to write for, you can reinvest it in a) running a WSO, b) advertise in the Warrior For Hire section, and c) getting your own domain and hosting and putting up a professional website.
6) Keep posting, keep running WSOs, and keep delivering quality!

There is work out there for quality writers. Follow the above and you should find it possible to pick some of it up.

The main freelance sites you'll want to register at for writing jobs are:

1) scriptlance (dot) com
2) elance (dot) com
3) rentacoder (dot) com

When I outsource I use scriptlance as it's a good clean site. As a writer with zero feedback, it'll be hard to charge more than about $5/article to start with. The reality is writing articles is a very low paying job to begin with as anyone can do it. If you have other skills like graphic design, programming etc. it's worth trying that.

Do this:

Write your own product about writing good articles and then use article marketing to pimp it. You could also email article directory owners and see if they would review it and, if they like it, send it to their authors or post on their article submission page.

If you can write well, you can have a profitable business running within 24 hours.

Seriously, you could have money in your Paypal account by this evening!

I have all those things in order, but as far as samples, I write 1 article for each person free of charge to serve as a sample. I prefer it that way so that they can make an informed decision as to whether they feel I could handle their topic. Personally, I don't think that a sample article for baby shoes will suffice in helping someone who needs an article on kitchen appliances to make a decision whether to hire me.

The reason for the free offer in my signature is so that people can get a feel for my writing without having to come out of pocket. Then if they feel like they would like to work with me, we will make further arrangements.

Andrew
I am currently developing my website, so that's under way. I'm currently working with a few Warriors on some smaller projects, so we will see how that goes for me. And, I will definitely be posting an ad in the Warriors for Hire section once I get the funds in hand.

I'm still on the fence about Associated Content, though. I might be missing something, but from what I read, I saw that they only offer $1.50 for every thousand page impressions and even then it depends on what you are writing about. Correct me if I'm wrong about it, but that's what I read...

I used to freelance years ago. I don't anymore.

However, there are many places online where you can offer your services.

Bev makes an excellent point. Knowing what you want to earn per article
will go a long way. Stick to your guns too. If you have the skills and can
write well, you don't have to write for peanuts.

And you're wrong about samples of your work not carrying any weight. A
person can tell a well written article from a poorly written one.

Write well and it doesn't matter what you're writing about...it will show.

Go to Google and type in:

Top Freelance Sites

Here is one article I found with 5 that I pretty much agree with as being
top notch.

Top 5 Freelance Sites

You will find plenty of others.

Freelancing takes a while to build a reputation, so build your portfolio.
Make sure you have plenty of samples to show prospects.

Anyway, hope this helps.
