Buying Lists of Freebie Seekers - this has to be a bad idea right?

So many people think that buying a list(s) is so bad.

You will get spam complaints and most are nothing but a bunch of blood sucking freebie seekers.

You can buy lists that all subscribers were made aware that they would receive third party emails / their data would be sold or it was made clear in the privacy policy. This makes the list 100% legal to mail to.

You can pay a reasonable fee to have the list scrubbed against known spam traps and complainers. The reason you need to do this is that many people or even companies sign up just to complain or plant spam traps, because they believe that if any mail that you send that is not double optin is spam even though they agreed to receive, but knew it wouldn't be double optin.

You also for a reasonable fee can get a server and IPs from bulk email friendly providers. So that when you do get some complaints from subscribers that didn't realize that they would get third party emails you won't get shut down. You can also set up Feed Back Loops with some of the big domains and anytime someone clicks the spam button you get an email and can remove that person from the list.

When talking about freebie seekers you can buy HUGE HUGE lists. Most co-reg that I have purchased has come from freebie seeker web sites. I must be totally insane to buy such because they will never convert and I will never make any money...Right? Plus I have absolutely no report/relationship built up with these people when I send them a message, so anything I send falls on def ears(so to speak).

NOPE!!!

See at this point I'm working backwards from the way everyone thinks you need to work to make money online. I'm sure most everyone will agaree that first you need to decide on your product, niche, etc. Choose something that you are passionate about, choose something of interest to you, choose something you know about, etc, etc, etc...

If I did that and bought such a list then I would lose money. But instead what I am doing first is defining what the potential traffic that I will receive is interested in. I think most will most will agree that the way to making money online is cost effective traffic that converts.

So at this point I just have to test affiliate offers (cpa networks) to find the ones that work. There are many offers that exist that the person doesn't have to take out their credit card in order for you to get paid. Also just because they are freebie seekers doesn't mean they won't take out their credit card, they just have to see the offer as being a great deal that they can't get in their car and drive to the local store and get.

Yes...such a list will rarely compete with dollars made per email sent against a list that the list owner actually creates and builds a relationship with, etc. But it doesn't matter because the size and availability of lists that one can purchase is so gigantic in comparison that the money you can make is huge. Also their is little physical work involved, most everything you do is done with software. There's no relationship to build, you just send the list a daily offer. You run with the winners and you drop the losers.

Anyway, that's the short of the long and something to think about.

    Not exactly.

To do an ad swap you need a list to start with. Plus your just swapping ads, your not acquiring a list(s) though it. How many times do you have to ad swap with the same person to find something that works. Then when you do, if what the other guy sent never worked, is he still going to swap with you.

Let us know how buying lists and sending them offers to find what they like works out. What sites are good for buying lists?

What I wrote wasn't hypothetical. It's all that I have been doing for close to the past 12 years. Does it work / make money...Yea!

When you buy a list you don't want to just blindly buy. I will typically depending on it's size buy a random sample of 5-10% and test it. If it works, then I will buy another sample. If it's a big list, I may just buy samples until I purchase the entire list.

    Hi DIABL0,

I read some of your posts about co-reg lists and am interested in getting into it.

I was just wondering where I should start looking for good co-reg lists? And also whether I should use my own email server or use a service like aweber?

    Thanks,

    James

I never believe in buying or renting list. If it works for OP, well good for him. Thats definately not the way i will go building my biz for long term. But, I am happy it works for you.

That said, the reason why i am posting is because I disagree with adswap being called nearly worthless freebie seekers. Adswaps doesnt merely translate as an act of exchanging emails lists. Its wayy more!

There is also the reputation you build as an email marketer in the circle, you also get buzz in the industry about your products for free, and lets not forget about the professional relationship you build among those who you adswap with. The coins, and the list you make along the way is just bonus :-)

I wont simply call adswaps useless. The functions of adswaps translates to more than mere exchanges of emails :-)
