Insurance Client Link Building Strategies - Tougher Markets

Hello guys,

We are a SEO firm located in San Diego and we have an insurance client for which we are doing a SEO campaign. It is going great but we constantly face blocks as the insurance stuff seems like is "spammy" for a lot of places. So, dropping a link is challenging; imagine dropping an anchor.

We do several things and we do then right. We do not use fancy software or hire anyone over seas or use link farms. We are 100% legit and take all the steps to do this the right way. Article directories, blogs, comments, forums, etc. All that is being done but it seems that isn't enough.

What strategies do you recommend for clients that are "tougher" than others? In other words, video games, porn (which we do not work with), real estate, etc., are all areas that are harder to do campaigns for.

Your help is appreciated!

Article directories, blogs, comments, forums, etc. are good, but not enough. In tough markets you need aged authority backlinks and not only from 'public sector', but from private sites in particular.
Thus private quality blog/site networks are one of the best solutions. Check my sig for details.

If you are having trouble getting links from other sites, then you need to buy your own aged high PR sites and put links on those.

Also, I would buy high PR links from those selling them.

In other words, contact other sites, private ones, and get a link back type of thing?

I'd seriously consider building your own industry specific blog network so you can control 100% of the content being placed on the blogs.

If your client is hyper local and not trying to capture national leads 20 blogs on unique domains should be more then enough.

Being in SEO I am surprised you haven't thought of this.

Yes, we want to target the local audience first. Never thought of using unique domains for blogs, just for landing pages. In a way, I do something in that fashion.

Is that what you are suggesting?

Do you mean, combine all clients' blog posts and/or articles in ONE blog related to the same industry? If so, I have found that is not too good to do sometimes with certain clients who like to monitor what we do, which is 100% fine with us and why we strive to create "non-spammy" anything.

      Could you elaborate?
