should i sell my website?

Hi guys,

I built that site as a project about 6 months ago and it's getting pretty decent traffic, about 4000 visitors a month, most are new visitors. 90% of my traffic comes from Google.

The reason im considering selling it is because its not making any money at all. I put up adsense all over the dam thing and the most it's made in a month is 2.50 lol. And the ads were in good locations, so i know thats not it.

I just wanted to see what you guys think, the site is

funnyraplyrics(dot)com

Also how much is a site worth that gets a good amount of traffic but doesnt make any money

You'll get a lot more for it if you monetize it. I'd put some Amazon ads for rap music and maybe some RAP posters/tshirts etc from a poster company. Google rap affiliate programs and see what comes up.

I agree monetizing is a good idea and will definitely increase value.

Thanks for all your feedback. It's right on par with what everyone else has been saying. "build it up" and I know you guys are right. I'll just have to test some different things out.

        Thanks for all the help.

I'd sell, you have a large numbers of visitors. I think you could get a decent penny for it.

Good advice.......and adsense is not as easy as most people think to make serious money with. Try some different ways such as affiliate programs or cpa.

Typically disappointingly little, unless there's a really convincing record of traffic volumes and a readily apparent form of monetization available. There are exceptions, though.

Proven income is the underlying basis of all website valuations, really. Without it, it's all a bit of a guessing game. But ultimately any site's worth "whatever you can sell it for".

If you can monetize this relatively easily, I'd think that might be very worthwhile.

I actually don't that it's worth selling it.You may take advantage of the 4000 visitors in a different way than Google Adsense. There is always Amazon,Clickbank,e-bay,CPA offers etc
Split testing to see which one is converting better.try to write some more content and see how it goes.

You have made the first step, now it's time to go on.Good luck with that

    Build it up.

4,000 is good, however to buy a site, its small

The main thing someone will look at traffic, email list and revenue. You are better to build on it.

    Cheers,

It's a nice site, but you have to consider the main selling points:

Traffic: If you can prove it with Google Analytics you will greatly increase the chances of finding a buyer (anyone interested in the niche)

PR: It doesn't look as if your website has a PR, but many buyers will find this irrelevant anyway.

Alexa rank: 5,507,886 is a bit high for a website with the amount of traffic that you are claiming. This may be something to consider improving before deciding to sell.

Revenue: $2.50 is a good start, some people make $0 a month. It shows potential buyers that there is potential to make money from this website. You should also mention the amount of subscribers and any other potentially money making aspects of the website.

Domain: funnyraplyrics.com is a pretty awesome domain name with 2,900 exact match searches. This should be the main focus of your sale.

SEO rankings: As far as I can see, you are sittin in position #1 on Google for "funny rap lyrics". Good job

I have no doubt that this website will sell 'as is' for at least $600-1500 on Flippa.

If you're looking for a higher price, try to improve the Alexa ranking or increase revenue. Obviously, that's easier said than done.

PM me if you need any advice, or look in my sig for the worlds most amazing Flippa tips

To make money selling your site (on Flippa etc,) ideally your site should have proven traffic AND ideally, demonstrate proven income.
I would look at finding ways to monetise the traffic you are getting, so then it gives value to your site and makes it more "Saleable".
