How Much Is My Site Worth?

Hi,

We have just built:

Digital Cameras | Camcorders | Telephones | TVs - Digitally Does It!

We've done pretty well with over 2,000 mentions in Google, in around 6 weeks. However, that is not the question. If I were to build similar sites, in similar profitable niches, using the same software, how much do you think the site would be worth? So, for example, a mobile phone site would have 50 categories, all with say 10 products in each category. So, a 500 page web-site, all ready to go. All products would be affiliate links, with Adsense etc. strategically placed. There would also be RSS feeds for every category, so that opens up a lot of potential.

So, I am not asking for orders here, this is pure market research. So, warriors, how much would you pay for a site, like the one above, all ready and waiting for you to market?

    Hi there,

    Me personally I would not really want to buy a website if it had not been marketed before. However, if I was on the look out for a website for myself to market I would probably pay in the region of around a few hundred or maybe something in region of £500+ for a website like that. What you also have to bear in mind is how unique it is and if it is easy to copy?

    dnscoop.com values this domain at $270 and I would say that is very generous if no profit has been turned..

    The domain is only 1 month and 14 days old

    Only 68 inbound links to pages.... very little to no traffic...

      No, of course it hasn't turned a profit yet! We've only just built it! 68 inbound links, very happy with that at this stage. How many would you be happy with after just 6 weeks? Any thoughts? Would be interested to know..At this stage, we are on track for our ROI. Thanks, Allen

    I'm no expert on EBAY's affiliate program but was wondering what types of conversions you're getting on that site and how much in adsense revenue is coming in.

    Have you tried running the site with less adsense. Prospective customers may be confused and just leave or instead of text ads use graphics.

      Hi - At this stage the ebay has been disappointing, despite plenty of clicks. Re adsense, we are in testing phase at the moment and trying a number of combinations. I hear you. Thanks, Allen

    Those calcualators are not accurate. One of my websites that was just 20 days old was given good appraisals by more than 1 of those calculators. It was 20 days old, no backlinks and had 4 articles and was still a work in progress.

    The lowest figure it was given was $78.

    So I bought the domain for $8, paid one month's hosting fee of $6. So in less than a month I could make $14 into $78 ?

      Thanks Ron, my current thinking is heading that way. Ready made sites don't appear to hold a great value at the moment, no matter how good they look. By the way, what sort of average valuations did you achieve? i.e. if site had $X and Y visitors per month, what kind of sale price could you expect to achieve? Appreciate it will be different for different sites and markets, but I think a ball park figure would be useful... thanks, Allen

        Usually a sites' worth can be calculated like:

        Monthly profit X 6 to 12 months
        Depending on Niche.

        If it is new site, almost nothing. Few dollars for site templates or scripts installed on it etc.

    I'd say $50 max without traffic. Most people want traffic and profit. You could test the waters on ebay.

    I think the licensing restrictions on the software package you used to build this site preclude you from selling it, as in effect you would also be selling a copy of the software as well. The only way around it would be if the purchaser provided proof that they also owned a license for the software used to build the site. Something I think you need to look into.

      Hi - Good point. They do allow a resell, but that license costs $25 per web-site, so that needs to be netted off the sale price. Thanks, Allen

    It complete depends on *where* you sell it. Yes, if you sell to the crowd here or over at sitepoint, you'll get $10 bids and complaints there is no traffic. Put it up on ebay with a good description, you could get more.

    The main issue is there's no content, just a collection of product feeds. Plus the Amazon "coupon" list includes tool belts and "Tasty Baby" on a digital product site.

      Yes, agree with you. The Amazon coupon code is just a test and strangely, we couldn't figure out a way to edit the feed from GC...thanks Allen

    As radhika said, it's "usually" 6 - 12 months income, though I found most people did not want to pay even that. A number of people only wanted to pay like 3 months, quite sad really. Course it was a pretty saturated market. Think I got about 6 months or so. I just wanted to get rid of them anyways.

    I think your better off letting the site mature and work on back links and traffic, plus as Art mentioned, sure could use some real content. It looks like you wouldn't get much right now anyways, so letting it age and build, might be the best avenue. On a side note, many flippers do say sites with adsense usually do better.

    My experience tells me that your site is an very dangerous site as far as Google is concerned. Sites like these are very likely to be downgraded or banned altogether. There are a number of reasons involved but I am most that most seaoned site buyers would not be willing to pay much for your site. I doubt you would fetch more than 6 months' revenue for it.
