Video website Promotion

What would be the best way for me to effectively promote and drive some more traffic to my short film website? Pretty new to internet marketing so I'm wondering of best and most efficient ways in doing this. How would you go about in doing it?

There is no single way to do this. You need to figure out how this is going to make you money first.

Here are standard steps for a successful marketing campaign, for an existing product:

    1. Find out who has the money and desire to buy your product.
    2. Figure out where you can reach these people
    3. Create an entry product ( the cheapest, easiest thing they can buy from you)
    4. Create a sale funnel (basically more products and communication channels so that they keep buying from you.)

Continue to add more people to your twitter account.

Before you tweet about a video try to brainstorm 5-10 reasons why you'd recommend someone watch it. Make each reason a separate tweet. Then using a tool like hootsuite schedule several tweets throughout the day, week, month re: that video.

Why? People aren't always on twitter at the same time you are. This will help you "catch" them when they are & leave you free to do other tasks.

Build an email list. You can offer them a newsletter style update to your latest short films, insider tips or some other thing to get them to optin. This will help keep former visitors coming back.

Get visitors to interact more with your videos. ie. Add links just below each featured video so viewers can "share" the video on twitter & with their fB connections.

Consider creating a fB fan page and/or app to get fB users involved. You can also look for fB pages & fB groups created by other independent film makers. Start socializing, do some collaborative work, etc.

You should "hang out" with youTube independent film makers and do the same.

Check out tubemogul, pixelpipe & trafficgeyser to share your videos on sites besides & beyond youtube.

You could try content marketing. Write an article of about 400 works with a small resource box at the bottom then submit it to the article directories like ezinearticles.

Once you've submitted to ezine articles you can change it up a bit and use it for some Web2.0 properties like a squidoo lens and a hub page. Then change it up a little bit more and create a wordpress or blogger blog with it.

There are many other things you can so with the article you jsut have to use your imagination little bit.
