Newbie thread - for everyone really

Dear Warriors,

As a fairly new to the "game", I have been exposed to the information overload, which I am receiving from probably a lot of you every day :-)

I am slowly becoming immune from buying all the best "new software" that is coming out as I simply have not got the time to be going through it all.

I have recently come across the post, where one of us was saying that he wasted a lot of time when he started reading and studying IM instead of taking action.

What do you think is more important for a novice, studying the general terms and concepts or jumping onto one of the programs, and plugging away until that method is completely done?

Pick an IM niche that you're truly interested in / passionate about and stick with it to avoid spreading yourself to thin. Personally I wouldn't spend money on SEO software until I've mastered the fundamentals

I agree with IronRing 100% ... I think he's been in fact "gentle" to SEO software... take any good known example... yahoo... techcrunch... wikipedia.. they didn't use any SEO software! .. they just had (and still have) great content! ....

Spend some time learning SEO techniques at Google itself.. they have some great tutorials... Or learn from some pro ... one who helps you understand the ins and outs of SEO .. not sells you a product/solution...

I will be glad to help as long as I don't have to spoon feed (sorry for being blunt...)

    hope this helps.

I agree with gtlovesellipsis... You must learn to crawl before you walk... and walk before you run... Its always better to start with the basics before doing the workarounds...

There are a few really good authors in the WSO section, and alot of great content in the war room. I would stay away from automated seo software in general, i was a fan at one point untill i started hearing different things about it being a bad idea. Just head over to the war room and you'll learn alot... it doesn't cost much to join

I've personally always found the best way to learn is to jump straight in and learn "on the job" so to speak.

But I also know there is alot of people out there that prefer to learn or "read the instruction manual" before they start taking action.

I think both approaches have their merits and it's really up to you to decide which method suites you. The important thing is to not get stuck to just reading/learning and to take action as soon as you feel you're able too, or you may regret the time you spent just reading/learning.
