Clickbank Question - Can I prevent non North American purchases?

Hi

Been through the CB help guides & interface - cannot find the answer.

I have a CHRISTMAS product which is only CONTENT-RELEVANT to
people in North America, but I know I will get SALES ( then refunds )
from people in UK, Australia, Germany, France, etc etc etc

... so, without saying "only for people from North America" on the sales page
I'd like to simply prevent sales to those outside Canada and USA.

Can this be done at Clickbank? Thanks in advance.

Not as far as I'm aware ... but your sales page would be hosted on your own site anyway, not on ClickBank's site. Only the payment transaction is hosted on ClickBank's site.

Perhaps you might be able to use one of those IP detection scripts on your own hosting, though, (as some people do), so that traffic from outside North America is directed to a different page explaining that the offer is available only to people living in North America, and suggesting another page/site for people from elsewhere (gives you a chance to try to sell something else to us - either as a vendor or even as an affiliate!).

Maybe you could use a buy now button that is only visible to North Americans? Something similar to those CPA landing pages..

    Hi RefundHost,

You can just filter the IPs that you want to access your site, you can Geo target what countries you want looking at your content.

There is Geo targeting softwares that could help you with that, just do some research and you'll find plenty.

I do think that clickbank should start looking into this, maybe if enough people make the suggestion i will happen, but i don't know if it's possible with them right now.

    Good Luck,

Except maybe reputation, credibility, transaction-processing costs, time and trouble, the goodwill of your customers and your payment processor, your PayPal account, and/or getting your product de-listed by ClickBank or whomever over its unacceptably high refund-rate?

Sorry to be such a skepchick, but I really can't see this working ...

Surely better to filter out the non-North-American traffic by detecting it before it sees the sales page at all, if you're really not willing to say openly that it's only for North American customers ...

I think your best option would be Geographical targeting within Googles Webmaster Tools. That is of course, if you use this application.

Im not sure how precise you can be with the targeting however.

EDIT - Of course you'll want to make your pitch pages reflect VERY clearly that the information found in your product is directed at the US market only.

I think what I will do is ad a 2nd page - an intermediary page before the CB checkout

where I will state who the product is for. Just don't want to put anything on the
first page that will scare anyone away with a negative.
