Info overload! Putting it all together? How to.

Gentlemen and women,
My first post here and hopefully not my last I've dabbled myself in SEO / Marketing for a bit now, never truly dedicating myself to one project, nor enough to actually see drastic results -- but lately I've had an inch to really start organizing myself and start focusing on a per project basis. Getting my websites visible via SE's and measuring my milestones as I hit them.

My question is -- with all these great tips and tricks -- how does one really start. Do you jump right into it? I mean clearly success requires one to be somewhat organized in their process here, especially when it comes to SEO. Does anyone wish to share their strategy on how they go from 0-60 when it comes to say setting/organizing themselves?

I hear ya, bro! Organization is my weak point, but I try!

I have found that checksheets created in Excel help, but I sometimes even lose those and forget where I had them saved.

I have found that making a plan with tasks for each step along the way and then printing the spreadsheet out helps. Posting it on the wall where it's handy and where I can see it and check each item off helps.

Wonderful tip Bretski! Appreciate your insight! It's a weak point for me as well. I go in with a million ideas and strategies and tend to overlap and sometimes cause myself more work than required. I'm dead set in figuring out a "system" for myself, perhaps with tips like yours to help along the way! Thank you for your input!

Pick a single method and stick with it until it makes you money. Jumping from one method to another will burn you out!

Honestly, I have to pick 1-2 thing and give myself a certain deadline everyday to get the task completed. If you try to tackle too much all at once with no organization, you will easily get overwhelmed.

I agree. Do some research and then decide which route you'd like to take.
IMO the most popular 2 for starting out are.
SEO - Build a website, blog, or similar content platform. Sell links, ads, build a list, etc. More of a slow and steady approach.
PPC - Pay for traffic and direct it towards a targeted offer, testing until you have a positive ROI. Most people lose money to begin with, but generally has a higher profit potential if you create a scalable campaign.

I agree with you. Some of us are so filled with fear of failure that we jump on several different adventures hoping one of them will work...but what happens is none of them work because we lack focus.

Trying to pull off multiple tasks at the same time is the kiss of death. Do not over-reach because you can not learn every aspect of internet marketing in one fell swoop.

Internet marketing will be so much easier when you selectively focus your efforts.

@Landis, I agree in sticking with one method -- question is which method is best? I guess it comes down to personal taste and what works for that specific individual. Personally, I am the type of guy who needs to be bootcamped when it comes to organization since I can be scatter brained at times and try to attack a million things at once (@kbailey i know what you mean). Thank you both.

I am considering purchasing a whiteboard. There seems to be something refreshing about a whiteboard for me -that and a tons of stickypads (though that can become a nightmare if once doesn't control it ) I will take another crack in trying to either come up with something in excel as well ( ill post it on the board when/if i do).

There is actually whiteboard PAINT out there now. Rustoleum makes something like this and there's also a company that makes JUST whiteboard paint. I forget the name but I know a lot of the bigtime gurus will do a whole wall in whiteboard.

concentrate on the task at hand right now, switch off all other distractions, unsubscribe unwanted newsletters, stay away from too much research and learning, focus on implementing and document what works and how it works.
