RE: Does Getresponse tell you this..?

Hey guys,

I have around 500 people in my GetResponse account.. I wanted to know if it will be possible to get information like their age, country, browser type, income level etc from the autoresponder account?

I know this is a very silly questions, but if anyone has any tips on how to find out this info about subscribers, that would be great

    That would only be possible if they submit that info to you when they join your list.
    None of that stuff matters anyway, there are potential buyers from every category. Focus more on building the list than on the stats of the subscribers.

      Yeah if you had them enter that information when they signed up it might be available to you.

      Some of the stuff like browser might though, I am not sure how it all works.

      But I can see why you would want to. I once polled my subscribers to find out a few things, including age. I was very surprised to find out that the majority were 20 years older than I had been thinking!

      Definitely changed my wording writing from then on.

      It might matter depending on what the OP is selling and needing certain demographics in order to target his market. You can't just say that that info isn't important when you have no idea what the OP is doing.

      A lot of companies want all those kinds of demographics because of the type of products they want to target to certain consumers. Even if the OP is selling an info product, it might be beneficial for him to have this info.

        He also has to rely on folks being honest with the answers. Many maybe fine with age & country of residence but I know a lot of folks who wouldn't be honest with the income questions especially if they're unsure what the information will be used for.

    Adding extra fields BEFORE people opt in can give useful info - though I think age is probably the only one I would add. The more fields, the higher the chance the prospect will not proceed.

    Very interesting answers guys!

    Yeah I did not ask them for this info before they signed up.. so I guess I am out of luck.

    Anyways, does anyone know of a script/software which allows me to run a poll for my GR subscribers?

    browser type and country can be determined. But not sure getresponse supports it. I use aweber and that provides country data

    Yes a lot of people told me to go with Aweber but for some reason I just signed up with GR. Bad move I guess.

    Actually, it's not a silly question at all.

    Yes...and no.

    I don't think GetResponse has this capability, but you can certainly get this information.

    There are lots of companies popping up now that you could run your email list through to get demographic information.

    I just saw one recently that will scan a list of emails and check social profiles (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc.) and bring back a whole bunch of demographics.

    This will become more common in the future...for sure.

    If I can find that URL for that service I saw recently, I post and update here.

    Actually you can easily pull this information about your subscribers, but you have to ask them first. No email service providers knows on its own how old your subscriber is or how much money they make unless you query the subscriber or mine the data from other sources.

    What you need to do is to create a web-form that asks not only for the name and email address, but also about other data that you need. you can easily do this using GR's visual web form builder.

    You can also use the GetResponse Survey feature to send out an email to your subscribers and gain feedback from them that way. Not all will respond but we've seen some extremely successful survey campaigns (a record one had 80% open-rate and 35% of subscribers submitting a 10-question survey).
