EMD's - Keep or drop the 's' ???

Hi warriors!

What's your opinion, in terms of SEO friendliness, on having an 's' at the end of an EMD?

So for example:
GreatWebsites.TLD
or
GreatWebsite.TLD

If you were faced with a life/death situation and HAD to pick one and give a reason why, which would it be?

Personally I'm thinking WITHOUT the S because Google searches for both, right? :S

I don't think search engines make any difference (they probably understand singular-plural), but for me personally with 's' the domain name seems to be a lot "spammy"

Choose the one that gets the most search volume. It will be different for each domain. One size does not fit all.

If "purple laptop" gets 100 exact searches and "purple laptops" gets 70, I have always been of the opinion to grab the one with the "s" and hit both. But I have noticed that domains without the s that I own still rank for the plural. So I agree, Google knows what the plural would be.

If I can't get an EMD for a keyword but if adding an 's' means the domain name still makes sense by pluralising it, then I'll get an EMD with an added 's', it makes little to no difference in terms of SEO.

The way I understand (and have seen it), it goes like this...

If you add an 's' to your EMD, google will see that as a plural version of your KW. So, it could (will?) alter your SEO, as google per how google sees it.

So, if your KW is 'blue widget' and you setup bluewidgets.com, then google will see/recognize/give you credit for/etc having an EMD for 'blue widgets' (plural), not 'blue widget' (singular).

However, if instead of an 's', you add a different letter that wouldn't make any real sense or alter the KWs - i.e. a 'stop letter' - then google pretty much just ignores the stop letter and gives you credit for having an EMD for your KW.

So again, if your KW was 'blue widget' and you setup bluewidgetv.com, google would give you credit for 'blue widget'.

Use the 's' if you wanna target the plural version of your KW. Use a different stop letter if you don't.
