How do you come up with the idea for a blog?

Hey Warriors,

Just a quick question:

How do you come up with the idea for a blog?

Do you decide based on:

what you know most about?

what you are passionate about?

the highest CPC?

the lowest competition?

the highest traffic?

something else?

I'm curious becuase I am considering starting my own blog

My first problem: I have too many options!

What one would you pick?

It is much easier to write on a consistent basis about a topic you have some knowledge of and some interest in. The best kind of idea I would think, would be where a lot of other people are also interested in that same topic who might want to read your blog.

It seems that the vast majority of people who start blogs, do not post on them consistently, and just by doing that, you can be ahead of most other people.

If you can combine most of whats in your post that would be great..

        The 3 most important...

        1. You have to really enjoy the topic...
        2. The search volume must be decent... (at least 1k per month)
        3. The competition can't be to high...
Number 3, the only thing with number 3 is the higher the comp the higher the Adsense clicks. But you should start out targeting low comp keywords, and work your way up to the tougher ones once you have developed a system that's working...

a profitable niche where you can write a lot of content and as well as competition. Make money online for example is a niche that i would stay away from.

I agree with Vinny. Make sure you write about somehting you are interested in. If you are writing articles to rank for a specific keyword, make sure to do your research and create original content. Google likes high quality original work.

    Start somewhere ...

The blank screen in front of you is not going to suddenly stop being blank unless you do something.

So, start with something you feel passionate about or something you know something about or something that makes you laugh or cry or feel strongly about ...

Just start! And just let it flow, let it pour out of you. But get it out. You can always come back later and edit. I usually have to cut most of what poured out of me completely off the screen.

But it's better to have too much of something than a blank screen.

Start something that you are familiar with and is interested to do with. I mean, you should start with the idea of your blog that you are really interested with, since you can write and update the content of your blog with no difficulties. In addition, look for the niche that you are interested with and try to look also in the Internet Marketing business which niche is popular or in-demand in the market.
You just have to be consistent in submitting your articles to your site or blog site since you have the knowledge, understanding and familiarity of the niche that you are working with.
In my case, I do go for the niche that I am interested to write because I can submit and update articles in a daily basis.

Bulls-eye @Traveler66! This is the best advice so far.

Commit to one or several of your options and make them reality. Let it all out then trim it down later, leaving the core - the best of your ideas for everybody to see.

Starting a blog easy but you have to be committed in adding quality content on a regular basis. You can do this only when you have adequate knowledge about the subject and if the niche is broad enough to allow exciting hints, tips, news and opinions. This would be my priority and Im sure the rest will fall in line.
