You Could Be Leaving Money On The Table With Every Email..See Why!

Hi Guys,

Over the last year I've tested my conversion rates for text only emails and
found out that I was leaving money on the table because the way
my audience views their email varies across the board.

Here's what I found.

Although a good portion of my list has their inbox set to receive
text and html emails, a small portion of them have their inbox
set to receive html emails only. And a very small portion can only
recieve rich-text emails.

So as a precautionary measure I have implemented html and
rich-text emails in my email marketing campaigns.

Here's my format:

1. Prepare a standard text email - (Most of you already do this.)
2. Add content to my standard html format -(Have an HTML guy desig you a format)
3. Prepare you rich-text version (Please see my email format for rich-text below.)

This will link them directly to your sales page.

Example Rich-Text Format:

Please add noreply@domain.com to your address book or safe list
to ensure our e-mail reaches your inbox.

    Good tip!

Advantage of Rich text is you can track clicks and campaigns too.

Yes. Most email clients set to text as default. But he was talking about his list.

    Hey Louis,

Depending on your list you could be leaving a lot of money on the table. I've had several corporate clients and they all use the 3 in 1 approach, in addition to having cross-sell and backend products.

I've been using text only for years now because I assumed I would reach a wider audience.

I think I'll try testing this sometime this month.

    Thanks for the tip!

Most email clients are set to text READING by default?

Hmmm.... I don't believe that is true.

Gmail? Yahoo? Hotmail? Last I heard they all read html emails just fine.

Outlook? Thunderbird? Eudora? Yep, read html emails.

I have a list of just over 2,000 and I send out my weekly newsletter in both HTML and text. Tracking the text only clicks account for less than 2% of all my clicks.

So I will continue to send it in both formats, but I certainly don't think most people can only read text emails.

    You mileage may vary.

    Hey Guys,

I'm sharing this information based on my audience and the clients I've worked with and although a good portion of email users have their inbox set to text only it does not hurt to use all three versions. Especially if your product is $100 -$1500.

In my experience I have found you have go the extra step just in case a recipient doesn't know how to switch his/her inbox to a particular version.

You could be leaving thousands on the table if you have a list of 10,000 or more..
