Have You Ever Thought About Who You Are Selling To?

I'll ask that question again. Have you ever thought about who you are selling to? Hopefully the answer is yes. Unfortunately, for most online marketers, the answer is no. And that my friends, is one of the reasons why people struggle to earn money online.

So let me ask you a question. Would you be willing to go nose to nose, face to face, toes to toes with real people in their own living rooms and SELL your product or service? That includes your sig file, your blog, your WSO, your ClickBank product, your affiliate products, your free reports...anything. Because whether you like it or not, we are SELLING to people. Period.

That tends to be forgotten online. For some reason many of us think that just because we are putting words on a computer screen that we are in no way dealing with people. Well...we are dealing with people. People are buying (or not buying) your products or services.

Some of the greatest sales trainers of all time sold door to door, nose to nose with mom and dad. Think about it. Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, Dan Kennedy, Frank Kern...they all were involved with sales and they all did it face to face. That's where they got their experience.

Don't get sucked into thinking that just because you don't actually see your prospects or customers that they are not there. We are not selling to robots. We are selling to people. The next time you get involved with a product launch, be it your own or one you're an affiliate of, before you publish your content, read it out loud and see if it's a conversation you would have with someone face to face if you were trying to sell them on your product or service. If you would not want that script read to your prospect out loud, then edit and redo it.

I would advise you to print out one of Frank Kern's sales copy for any of his products. Then read it out loud and see what you think. You'd probably say, "damn, that's good". It's good not because Frank invented some new way of marketing and making money. It's good because he uses the oldest and most effective selling methods and mechanisms that still work today. He just writes it in his own tone, that's all.

We should strive to do the same. We, as marketers, should still master the art of selling. Internet marketer is a nice name, but that's not what we are. We are not marketing the internet. Think about it. We are selling products for a commission. Therefore we are sales professionals. Let's act like it.

Read books on selling. Go to seminars and learn from professional sales trainers. Write out sales copy on your own hand writing. Read your sales copy out loud and see how it sounds. Otherwise, we just look like a bunch of Amway salesmen. And well...nuff said about that.

Become part of the top 5% instead of the bottom 95%.

This post was written for me as much as it was written for you. Just remember when you write your content online...PEOPLE are reading it. Not robots.

Happy selling.
