Hey guys, hows tricks?

I've started work on a WSO and it's coming along quite well. One thing I need to figure out though is how do I go about getting Copy-write? Is there specific people who can do it for me? Is it just a case of firing the legislation on it?

I think you probably mean copyright (unless you really meant to post this in the copywriting forum)

If you did, then the copyright of anything that you write is automatically yours.

Or are you, perhaps, referring to trademarking your name, catch phrase or logo? In which case, in the UK, you need to look at the Intellectual Property Office website Intellectual Property Office - Trade marks

Yeah, copyright lol, sorry mate. Damn Google Chrome making me doubt myself!

Nah it's just for my WSO - so as long as I have the little disclaimer on it then it's mine? I don't have to like get it paid to be registered anywhere?

    Cheers.

So long as you're the writer and owner and you're not giving away any PLR, MRR, etc. rights, it's yours.

You technically don't even need to put the "little disclaimer" on it. Once it's in fixed form (in print, as a WSO, recorded, etc.) it is automtically copyrighted.

However, registration can give you extra protection and allows you to sue for infringement.

You can always add the (c) copyright notice if you like, but it's not technically required. For the record, I add it, and I have also registered some of my material.

      All the best,
      Michael

Back when I used to do art, you actually had to fill in a form and pay a filing fee.

These days it's all done online. I think the address is copyright.gov ( it's definitely a .gov site,) and you can actually pay the fees and fill out the form right online. Just attach a copy of your book and you're done.

I think it was about $50 last time.
