Did viral marketing a few years ago with success...

But switched to direct sales. There was more money in direct sales but the stress and aggravation is just too much. My question is where to start with affiliate marketing as well as ppc? Do I need to have my own product to start with? My own site?


I loved when I worked in viral marketing. I would easily make 2000-3000 a month working 2-3 days a week and want to try and get back to that. Viral marketing isn't as effective as it had been in the past because a) everyone knows what it is now and can spot it from a mile away b) there are so many niche websites out there that it's hard to find areas where your target demographic frequents.


So my question, to anyone who can answer. Is where to start with this? I'm almost certain I can use some viral marketing techniques to help me but it's a different world online than it had been 7 years ago when I had my success in viral marketing.

    Actually. I just had a good idea. If I wanted to sell my knowledge of how to start an effective viral marketing campaign for someones product. How could I do that using affiliate/ppc/blog marketing?

      Yeah, you could write a great WSO, I'm sure .

      Well, it all depends which route you wanna go..... Facebook, Twitter and Google +1 are the main powerhouses right now.

      It's VERY easy to go viral with a simple link via Facebook that keeps getting shared and shared.

      But Google +1 will be the new focus I think. It's not even open to the public but will be a very strong competitor for Facebook and Twitter.

      Did you hear that Google shares jumped 30% when they announced Google plus one !! Just an indication of what people and investors think this is going .

        What is WSO? I guess I'm unfamiliar with current marketing trends like ppc and affiliate marketing. The more technical aspect of marketing, and would like to get heavily involved to generate a sustainable income. I know how to effectively viral market already. I can write campaigns for people to follow and used to lead teams for companies like Warner Brothers, Sony, and MTV. It's just the net is much different than it had been when I did internet marketing in the past.


        To get to the point. How can I utilize my previous guerilla/viral marketing abilities and my sales abilities with modern marketing techniques to generate full time income from a web based company?

        I worked in guerilla marketing for 4 years and did 2 years of direct sales so surely there must be something I can do to get the ball rolling again.

        Hmm bit of brainstorming here. Maybe someone would like to hop in to see if they come up with any ideas as well.


        *Sell my guerrilla marketing abilities to start up companies. Write campaigns to get them started.

        *I've taken a few chances working on my own for start ups, however I'm not very good at putting teams together. I'm a good marketer but not the best networker so I want to do something where I can lead and make decisions but not have to rely entirely on networking abilities (one of the reasons I want to move away from direct sales)

        *Maybe write an ebook on effective guerrilla marketing.

        *Start a company that hires out contacted employees for web based guerrilla campaigns. The only problem is finding clients.

        *Will think of more and try to post them here.

      Well I'm sure that a product like that would sell well, but you yourself just stated that its no longer all that effective. Kind of shot yourself in the foot there didn't ya?

      That said, if your interested in affiliate marketing you have come to the right place. The SEARCH function is going to become your new best friend and there are thousands and thousands of threads on it.

      I prefer physical products, but others have success with promoting digital. Regardless of what you promote ensure that you learn how to properly build a list. Your leaving easy money on the table by not doing so.
