Hello, my name is Adam and I am new to the forum as well as IM. I am a freshman in college and I have been reading threads on this site for about 2 months now trying to learn as much as possible so I can try and make some money. I started my own wordpress blog but now Im not sure if my niche is going to make me any money. Also, I have been reading lately that niche blogs wont make you much money at all. Does anyone have any suggestions of what type of internet money making scheme is best for a noob trying to make more than a few cents online. Also, I have been looking for someone whos been in this for a while, and possibly started the same way I am, to maybe give me some mentoring for a price. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Well there are plenty of people on this forum that make full time incomes with niche blogs alone... so i do not know where you heard that from.

Feel free to PM me with your niche site and specifics and I will help you out.

Additionally, make sure you are doing your keyword research.

A easy way to get your first couple of sales is to review a product (and be honest with your review including listing the cons) as your landing page, and write a few articles pertaining to your niche linking to that page.

Hey Adam Bshero, I would PM you but I am not able to. One thing I dont really understand about these forums is you have to have quite a few posts before you can PM people but a few people have been posting threads lately saying that newbs shouldnt post unless they have valuable information to offer but the newbs are really here to get valuable information.

      Hey Adam, welcome.

Here's the problem with your outlook:

the newbs are really here to get valuable information.
See, you've made it all about YOU, when actually it's about US.

Look around the forums- the main discussion board isn't the ONLY board here. Are you telling me that you can't find a question anywhere here that YOU couldn't either answer or add value to?

Bet you could...if you start thinking US.

We're having a small crisis here at WF because of too much ME thinking, I believe. So why not become part of the solution?

Answer a question or enrich a thread with valuable input. Or start a thoughtful thread of your own. You're in college, right? Start thinking of this place as another campus.

The education you get here will be FAR more valuable to you in real-world terms than anything you will learn in a traditional educational setting...it has been for me.

      Peace.

Sorry if i came off like that, I really dont want to be like that. I suppose after a while I will learn more and maybe be able to help others. As for now though, does anyone have any other suggestions for what a newb should be starting with? Maybe share how you guys started out. That would help alot to see how others started. Thanks!

@abomb: Even if your a noob you'd be surprised. You probably know a lot more than you think you do, especially if you've been reading/studying for several months. Glenn was right. Look around the forum and I'm sure you can find some posts that you could ad some valuable insight to. Get your post count up by helping others and you'll get as much as you give.

If you want to make some money why don't you offer your services (freelance)? Your a college kid so I'm assuming you're pretty bright. What do you know how to do? Site design (you know Wordpress), code, program, copywrite...etc? Think about it, put some samples together of your work and get your name out there. Start with some modest goals like consistently earning $100 per week. Use the $ from your freelancing to pay for more advanced IM methods and software. The possibilities are endless.

      Good Luck,
      Capone

You can make money from niche blogs... The best thing to do is pick a topic that you can write about for awhile and not get bored. But also a topic about a problem that people want to solve. I think Health and Fitness is a great niche for new people to start in.

    Hey Adam,
The first thing you must understand is that the Internet by itself is Not a business. It is simply a tool used in marketing. There all many ways to market and some are easier than others, but most all of the methods used on the internet today are easier than when I started, which consisted of Mailings, making phone calls and good old fashion door to door. The internet has simply made the possibilities in marketing endless. Sometimes I think that is part of the problem; we have to many choices. Pick a niche or something you enjoy, a marketing method you are comfortable with, learn it and simply apply the numbers, marketing is still a numbers game. If you do that and keep it simple you'll do great. Good Luck!
