    VERY good question ...

In my case, my face and brand is that of an internet entrepreneur. I do it, I teach it, I coach it and it is my MAIN business.

But if you do some searching of me you'll find my other business of that of a real estate investor too.

But both of those "profiles" are similar as an "entrepreneur" They are in the same "genre"

BUT ... when I'm doing other marketing in niches that are not related to my core branding (like say ... golf ... dog training ... travel ... fishing) I really do not use my name or face / image.

On things like Facebook or MySpace ... my "profile" is perhaps a picture related to the niche and the "name could be" something else related.

    PERHAPS ...

A picture of a golf club and the name "Online Golf Pro" for the profile.

It's kind of like having an "internet pen name"

There was a GREAT book that I read a while ago by Dr. Jeffrey Lant called "The Unabashed Self Promoter's Guide" that REALLY talks about the importance of establishing, promoting and keeping your brand / image.

So ... in my humble opinion.

FIGURE WHO YOU ARE first and what you want to be when you grow up :-) and promote that brand as your PERSONAL brand / image.

THEN as you do other niches, you can use the generic avatar / niche style name to create any niche marketing profiles. It helps you promote in other niches and YET keeping your own brand / face / image "undiluted" with other things.

Okay - I will put my photo up tomorrow. I wasn't planning to do it until I had been here a year, but it's so close, I'll just do it early.

While not my actual photo, the avitar aptly describes me. I'm one of those "activists." You know, the people who get involved in situations they see the need for change in?

I'm a member of LEAP. Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (www.leap.cc). I've been a street cop (3 years) and am now the lead researcher for our Washington Lobbyist (or as he calls himself, an Education Specialist.)

Imagine the feeling of compiling a report, mainly from government material, which proves the failure of the Drug War. And to know that some congressional staffer, Representative or Senator will be reading my words. I must compile and submit 3-4 of these a week and it's getting to be more now that "change" seems to be coming.

So, I use that avitar that best describes me. My LEAP badge! You sell to people. I sell to Congresspeople. I've learned a lot from you. Keep it up!

I personally think when you have your own product, it is important to use your own pictures and name because you have to show why you are an expert at what you are selling, but as far as setting up presale pages, I would not use my own identity
    Signature
