Wishlist Member is a powerful and relatively easy to use wordpress tool:

WishList Member | Membership Site Software (not an affiliate link)

    Check it out.

    Quick Solution: WP Member Champ

    The Big Gun: WishList Member

    Free, but effective: s2Member

Pick the one that best suits you Sorry, can't post direct links yet. A Google search of the names will come up with their homepages though.

Not sure really, but from their "Features" pages, it seems that WishList Member integrates with Aweber, Get Response etc.

        It doesn't really matter.

What matters is what features are needed in YOUR membership site?

Do you have a plan for your site? i.e. how it will use categories and posts; how do you deliver the content (dripping not dripping); membership levels; etc.

When you have an idea, then you start looking for the tool that delivers what you need.

          ^^^^ This...

The cart moves so much more easily with the horse pulling than with it pushing.

Put another way, things are much simpler when design is fitted to function rather than function dictated by design.

As Vimal suggested, s2Member is free and does the job pretty well. It can protect posts, pages, categories, downloadable files, URLs, and more. It integrates with mailing servers (AWeber and MailChimp). And it works with PayPal. If you later needed more than all of that, you can install the Pro module, too...

You always get what you pay for in any area of business and life.

If you start out with a free solution it's only going to get you so far. Be careful that you're not locked into that solution limits you further down the line.

Look to see if that free solution is well supported and has been regularly updated. If you don't see either of these think how it will effect your business if there is a problem later on. For example if a new version of WordPress causes your membership plugin to no longer work, what do you do?

Other issues include security, how secure is your protected content with a free plugin?

Be sure any free membership plugin solution gives you the ability to export your members and their access privileges. So if you need to go over to a paid plugin like WishList Member you can, simply import everything over.

I always look at things like this, start as you mean to go on.

        I totally agree with you.

s2Member is not one of those free, amateurish WordPress plugins that don't have proper support and maintenance. This plugin is professional. Check out its development log to see how frequently it is updated. It has several support channels. It has import/export (Pro only). And it is very popular on WordPress.org with almost a 100 5-star ratings!

I would be interesting to know how many full time staff they have? I suspect with six, we're probably one of the biggest.

Once again, Istvan has it right (I seem to be writing that a lot at the moment).

Don't worry about what solution other people found, but find the one that's right for YOU.

More of the mature membership plugins have similar core features (WishList doesn't do drip feeding, but that's just an oddity), but it's the extras and support that make the difference.

When people say "<x> is the best", you need to consider two things. Firstly, are that user's requirements the same as yours (I've worked on hundreds on membership sites and no two are the same) and secondly and most importantly, how many products did they evaluate to find that one (clue: In most cases they'll say "I was lucky and found the right one straight away").

Nowadays I don't often plug our own product on here any more (although I believe it's as good as DAP, better if you want memberhsip in Facebook too, and every other membership plugin is playing catch up with us two) I just try and get people to at least try the alternatives rather than heading to WishList because somebody (who hadn't tried the alternatives) said it was good.

My vote goes to WordPress Membership Plugin - Membership Script For WordPress Blogs And Regular Web Sites

I've used it on multiple sites and it was always great! Many options and amazing customer support.

I got so fed up with trying to answer this question on here nearly every day that I wrote a blog post (my personal blog, no sales, no promotions etc) explaining why it's the wrong question to be asking and how to actually find the best membership plugin for YOU.

If you want a membership site solution that works out of the box without all the technical hassles, look at Traindom. It has all the features you need (Paypal recurring payment, drip content, autoresponder integration, landing pages, customer management etc).

This certainly seems the place for finding the WP plug-in masterclass!

SO.... Can you answer me this question?

I am looking for a WP plug-in that allows me to "communicate" with each user individually, so they can each have a their own task list they can update which admin can see and respond to etc.

Does this plug-in even exist ?

    Cheers in advance,

    Jamus

I just wanted to ask if anybody had used the Suma Wordpress membership plugin. I came across this with a google search and the intro video looked interesting but I wanted to find some feedback on the plugin before i spent out the $150 inc. the PayPal integration module.

Any views on this plugin would be appreciated.

      Jamus,

Yes, DAP can do this in a couple of different ways, depending on how much "control vs. automation" you want over this.
