Hey Warriors,

I know this is my first post with this alias, I was using another user name before. I'm gonna get to the point here. My friend approached me today with thousands of comics from 1960's + and thousands of baseball, hockey, basketball cards. He asked me if there was any way he could make money off these comics, and as soon as he said that I thought about IM and ebay and stuff. I automatically said yes because he told me give me 50% of everything we sold (Pure profit). And know im thinking that all my friends have hockey cards and comics and I'm sure they would like to make money off of them.

What im trying to ask to the warriors is how should I go about selling these? I thought of ebay, maybe open a ebay store. Or should I open a website? Would it be hard to sell a physical product? What fee's am I looking at (Delivery, website fee's etc..)? I have a budget of about 500$ for this project, is that enough? I'm hoping you guys could help me out with some of the details. I'll be reading alot and seeing what is the best idea and cheapest way where I'll make the most profit.

Let me know what you guys think,
Thank you

Jeremy Walsh

If you are new, don't jump into creating a website, eBay is charging a high % of your sale + the post fees, but to be fair these guys got a high traffic.

If you want to start your own store, I would suggest to go with ecrater .com they are similar to eBay with no fees. You can have your own store and their traffic are also high enough.

eBay doesn't let you go ahead and create a ebay store unless you already a seller with specific amount of feedback.

    Hello,
I have sold comics over the years on ebay and have done very well,
things have changed about old comics as people want them in the best condition possible as like in never read or you will only get a few dollars each.
Ebay and paypal take about 20 percent of the profits these days.
Look at other ads before you post anything.
    Good luck.

You could sell them on Ebay if you know how to go about it. Ebay charges 9% of the selling price while Paypal charges 2.9% plus $0.30. However if you don't already have experience selling on Ebay, I would recommend that you ask someone who does to sell it for you or look elsewhere. Regarding building your own website, you have more than enough with $500. You could either build the site yourself or hire someone on sites like fiverr.com and fiftytown.com .
You could use GoDaddy or Namecheap as your domain registrar and host with Hostgator or 1and1. If you go with Hostgator's basic plan, you would be paying $4.95 per month. Domain name registration costs less than $10 for a year. So you could have your own website for less than $100. All the best.

Buy some things and build up feedback and see how the process works, if not in your niche something you want or need. Take notice of how the listings have their terms, shipping, etc. clearly stated in the auctions. Since it sounds like one time items find out what days does your niche usually end auctions, what time, keywords used in auction title etc., in other words get the feel of the market and build up feedback before trying to sell your items. Analyze the completed auctions.

I would open a store, specifically for trading tradeables. The problem a lot of people have is getting the initial members and stock together to start this kind of thing. You have the stock so you can pretty much name your price for them all. Given the amount of stock you have, you can build a substantial store straight from day 1
